Read Your Way to The National Aquarium
All Month Long  | Enoch Pratt Free Library

The National Aquarium and Enoch Pratt Free Library are once again teaming up to offer Baltimore students and their families the chance to read their way to the Aquarium. October 1 marks the return of Read to Reef, an award-winning program that connects Baltimore students’ love of reading with the wonders of the world’s aquatic treasures. Beginning October 1, Baltimore-area children in fifth grade and younger with a Pratt Library card can receive a special bookmark from their local Pratt Library (while supplies last). After reading any five aquatic or conservation-themed books, students can enter the code on the bookmark through the Aquarium’s online ticketing portal to make a reservation and receive free admission for up to four guests through January 16, 2023. Join Snapology for Build & Play! These are drop-off sessions for ages 5+, where kids will partake in creative building fun with STEM materials at Snapology. This is “unstructured” building time where the kids will build and explore on their own a variety of workstation. Snapology teacher will supervise the kids while you enjoy a 2 hour break! Learn About Indigenous Peoples at Irvine Nature Center

Visit Irvine’s re-created Native American site to learn more about Maryland’s First People. Families can learn about pre-colonial American Indian culture in the eastern region with hands-on activities and demonstrations of traditional skills. Help with the harvest of their 3 sisters garden, grind corn, throw an atlatl, try your hand at starting a friction fire, make cordage and more. Native American Indians have made, and continue to make, lasting contributions to our nation in every arena. Help celebrate their achievements and learn about just some of their history. Martin Aviation Museums will welcome aboard visitors on its shuttle busses to tour airplanes where imaginations will take flight and memories of the past will be recalled. Visitors will climb the pilot stairs at each aircraft to look down at controls where the pilot operates the planes such as military jets, flight trainers and a Huey helicopter.
