Maryland Day is the State’s official birthday and Anne Arundel County heritage and cultural sites are celebrating by offering over 60 events that are free or just $1. For 15 years the Four Rivers Heritage area of Anne Arundel County has been celebrating Maryland’s birthday weekend by telling the diverse stories of the history and cultures in Annapolis and southern Anne Arundel County with free and $1 events. The Workshop will be preceded by an all-ages celebration of dragons event at 2pm, featuring local author Scott Bruce (The Penguin Book of Dragons) and Adam Gidwitz (The Inquisitor’s Tale). Did you know that Oregon Ridge Park is home to a state champion tree! One of our tulip poplars is the second largest in Baltimore County. How tall is it? Go for a guided hike on the banks of Spa Creek. Investigate the quest for freedom as it often relied on nature. Learn how plants and other aspects of nature enabled escape along the Underground Railroad over 150 years ago. MORE

Sak pase! Learn to build and decorate your very own Haitian kite in preparation for the Big Baltimore Kite Fest on SAT APR 2! Kite-master Tetpwav Soley and Haitian cultural non-profit, Komite Ayiti, INC. lead us in this special annual workshop. Get hands-on with the kite traditions of Haiti and create your own kite from scratch. This workshop consists of tying sticks together, stretching kite fabric, tying knots, and creative decorating to make beautiful traditional Haitian kites! Maryland Hall for the Arts

Join Maryland Hall for the Arts for their free Open House! A day of creativity for all ages showcasing the arts at Maryland Hall featuring art & dance demonstrations, live entertainment, exhibitions, hands-on activities, children’s crafts, and much more. Two food trucks will be on our campus providing delicious snacks to purchase. Following ArtFest, the US Naval Academy Band will present a free concert at 4 pm. MONTHLY FAMILY WALK: SPRING FLOWERS (AGES 5-10)

Cylburn Arboretum

Join Cylburn for a family walk on Sunday, March 27 at 2pm. Spring is the perfect time to see bright pops of color tucked into forests and gardens. On this walk, feast your eyes on the spring blooms in both forest and field and learn about the importance of flowers at Cylburn and in our world. Walk content will be geared towards children ages 5-10 and we will be out for approximately 1.5 hours. Director of Education, Erika Castillo, will be your guide. Walks are free to members. There is a $5 per child suggested donation to Cylburn Arboretum Friends (an accompanying adult is free) if you are not a member. Register in advance. MORE

MARYLAND GREEK INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE 2022

Greektown, Baltimore

The 2022 Maryland Greek Independence Day Parade will be held on Sunday, March 27th at 2 pm in Baltimore’s Greektown, on Eastern Avenue and Ponca Street. Marching groups will include bands, musicians, dancers, floats and more leading up to Baltimore’s very own Evzones! MORE
