Exploring Workin’ on the Railroad During the B&O Railroad Museum’s Labor Day Weekend Festivities

There’s no better place to celebrate the legacy of American labor than the Birthplace of American Railroading! B&O workers laid the very rails which sparked the spread of industry across the United States, and the nation would have never been the same without them. To honor these railroaders and the many working-class heroes on which we all depend today, they’re hosting track-laying demonstrations, giving “Working on the Railroad: The B&O and the Labor Movement” Tours, and offering $1 admission on Labor Day, Monday, September 6. Many family traditions start with cooking. Skills are passed from one generation to the next…from parent to child. These workshops are designed to carry on that tradition, to add to the repertoire of family recipes, enhance both the parent and child’s skills and techniques and to encourage family cooking as a shared activity. Through Chef lead hands-on learning in the Donut Workshop, both parent and child will work together to prepare traditional Baked Cake Donuts and Donut Holes as well as a variety of donut glazes and toppings, such as Apple Cider Glaze, Vanilla Glaze and Chocolate Ganache.
