Been missing live theatre? Rediscover the magic of Shakespeare under the stars  with Chesapeake Shakespeare Company. Best part? Your kids can experience The Adventures of Pericles for FREE!

Chesapeake Shakespeare Company returns to the stage at the enchanting Patapsco Female Institute Historic Park in Ellicott City with this year’s summer production. Not only is the performance outdoors, it takes place in the ruins — and really, is there any (cool)er place to see Shakespeare? Since The Adventures of Pericles may not be as familiar to you as some of Shakespeare’s other works (looking at you, Romeo and Juliet), here’s the synopsis:

The ever-changing sea tosses Pericles from one fantastic journey to the next, as he encounters tyrant kings, riddles, shipwrecks, friends, and pirates. He eventually finds—and then sorrowfully loses—a family. Only a miracle can bring them together again, but in Shakespeare’s sweeping fairy tale there is a joyous reunion and a renewal of life.

The show runs through August 1st and theatre goers are welcome to bring their own picnics and beverages (that includes beer and wine). Tickets start at $19 and one child is admitted FREE per paying adult. Performances take place Thursday-Sunday and run through August 1st. Due to limited capacity this year purchasing your tickets in advance online is highly recommended! Chairs are provided but you are welcome to bring your own.

Sundays are their Family Fun Days, with pre-show activities for all ages including crafts and story time, beginning at 4:30pm.
