Do you know a boy who likes to sing? Are you looking for a safe and nurturing outlet for the boy in your life to interact with other musically-inclined children during this time of social distancing? The Maryland State Boychoir wants him to audition for their program!
Boys ages 6-18 who have a pleasant singing voice and who love to sing are encouraged to apply for membership in their program. Participating singers receive private voice and theory lessons as well as learn a varied repertoire that spans many different musical genres. The program accepts boys into their Resident Training Program with little or no musical background. Boys who have had previous training may audition for one of their performing and touring ensembles.
Auditions are being held outdoors with social distancing guidelines in place or online to accommodate families’ comfort levels. Winter gatherings are being held in a hybrid format, too — both outdoors with social distancing measures and virtually. Meetings have been crafted according to stringent Sing Safely guidelines as well as in accordance with current best practices.
The first group audition took place on January 27th, but there are two more opportunities to participate in the outdoors group audition or virtually via Zoom:
- Tuesday, February 9 at 6:00 PM
- Saturday, February 20 at 11 AM
Please note that Zoom auditions are held 30 minutes after the in-person auditions.
The Maryland State Boychoir has been meeting in person with strict social distancing guidelines since June without incident while maintaining the health and safety of students and staff. Virtual options remain available for most parts of the program for families who wish their children to participate but are unable to join in person at this time.
Private auditions are available by request if a different time is necessary. Register for an audition today at: https://www.marylandstateboychoir.org/audition/.
