Hey, Mo Willems fans! Today is just for you! Here’s a whole day dedicated to Elephant, Piggie, Knuffle Bunny, Trixie, and the Pigeon!

If you try any of these activities, post pictures to Facebook and Instagram and tag us (#coolprogeny and @coolprogeny). After all, we’re all in this together!

DAY 24 - Mo Willems

Cool Fun at Home: All About Mo Willems!

Go on a Squirrel Hunt

Like Mo says, “Unlimited Squirrels is unlimited fun!” While you are outside today, as your child to count how many squirrels they see! Weather keeping you inside, have them look out the window and keep count of their “squirrely” neighbor friends! After you’re done – check out these nutty fun facts about squirrels!

Map It Out!

When Trixie lost her Knuffle Bunny at the laundromat in ‘Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale,’ she had to walk through her neighborhood retracing her steps in order to get back to where her friend was!   Maps are great and help you know how to get somewhere or where to find something! Check out the story on YouTube — and then make a simple map with your child! It could be of your house, the playground, the neighborhood, or even their room!  Talk about how they would get from one location on the map to another. Do they go under anything? Do they need to stop or turn in a new direction? Have some extra fun by placing their lovie somewhere but only show them where it is by putting an “x” on your map.  See if they can figure out where it is.

Doodles With Mo

For the first three weeks of quarantine, Mo Willems offered a daily Lunch Doodles program at 1 PM!  The entire series is archived on the Kennedy Center website. Don’t have time for a full Lunch Doodle episode? No problem! Learn how to draw Piggie in just a couple of minutes with Mo at  PigeonPresents.com. Be sure to explore this website for “Mo” fun with his book characters!

Dance Party!

Time for a good old-fashioned dance party — read “Elephant Cannot Dance” along with Storybooks Aloud, and then host your own dance party!

Make Slop

If you aren’t a fan of children’s author Mo Willems by now, then you will definitely be after you watch this hysterical video of him making “slop” in celebration of his book “I Really Like Slop!”

Download The Pigeon App!

Head over to iTunes and check out the ‘Don’t Let The Pigeon Run This App. Kids can either listen to a new, randomly generated Pigeon story (different every time), or make choices to craft their own. (fee to purchase)
