Lunar New Year at Port Discovery

Celebrate the Lunar New Year, one of the most widely celebrated holidays in the world, with an exciting celebration at Port Discovery Children’s Museum! Visitors of all backgrounds will learn, experience, and participate in traditions surrounding the Lunar New Year celebration. You’ll be mesmerized by the Chinese Lion Dancers of Tai Yim Kung Fu School, who perform the traditional lion dance throughout Port Discovery using a paper mache lion, instruments, and dance that will captivate you! Learn the art of calligraphy and chopsticks with the Xiamen Chinese Sister City, and share your gifts by partaking in the traditional exchange of red envelopes between one generation and the next. Get a jumpstart on heart month with (cool) progeny and The Bryn Mawr Little School at our annual Healthy Heart Play Date on January 25h! We have so many fun things planned for families! The amazing education team at Bryn Mawr’s The Little School are ready to get crafty with fun Valentine’s Day and heart-healthy projects your kids will love. Make music with Alex from Alex and the Kaleidoscope Band. Move and groove with Nanny McFit. Pretend you’re a real life doctor or nurse and “examine” hearts with Little Medical School. Find a little zen with Bridget from Child’s Heart Yoga. Stop by the Little Lion Challenge table and help us make a BIG ROAR by assembling care cards for area families. Nosh on coffee courtesy of Zeke’s Coffee (for the adults) and treats. Don’t worry — there will be plenty of opportunities to get the wiggles out on a chilly morning! This is not your typical Rock Fest. Carrie Murray Nature Center is inviting rock enthusiasts of all ages to come together and share their enthusiasm for and knowledge about minerals, gemstones and fossils! Women in Sports Day

Loyola University Maryland Athletics presents Women in Sports Day to celebrate the achievements of its female athletes and to encourage young girls to get involved in sports. Female athletes spend time sharing their experiences, signing autographs, and showing how much fun getting involved in athletics can be. All activities are run by our student athletes and provide an opportunity for our young guests to meet and greet our athletes in low key/no pressure environment.
