This holiday season, Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods is getting a frozen makeover, courtesy of the Ice Fairy. Ice and Fire: A Winter Wonderland takes place on Saturday and Sunday evenings from November 30 to December 22, 2019, from 5 to 8 p.m. Families are invited to stroll through the Light Forest, get lost in the Light Maze, and be enthralled by the Ice Fairy and her friends. As you wander towards the Chrysalis, you’ll find  a lighted dragon, fire pits, and a make your own s’mores station (additional purchase required). Visit Santa on the Chrysalis stage. Encounter a variety of visitors from the fairy (and other) realms. Marvel at the 30 foot Tree of Light. Warm up with a cup of hot chocolate or warm cider (additional purchase required). It’s a Baltimore Christmas tradition — the lights on 34th Street! Neighbors in this 700 block of rowhouses string Christmas lights across 34th Street. Inflatable snowglobes, musical trains and blinking angels adorn homes. A few even allow visitors to peek inside. The lights are on every night from Thanksgiving weekend to January 1st, including staying on all night on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. MORE

Symphony of Lights

The Symphony of Lights has been a time-honored Howard County holiday tradition set in historic Merriweather Post Pavilion. Made up of more than 300,000 bulbs, this family-oriented spectacular is a dazzling display of larger-than-life animated and stationary holiday light creations. A portion of proceeds from this event benefit the Howard County General Hospital. Closed to cars December 1, 9, and 31 for walking events. Open on all holidays. 32nd Annual Baltimore Parade of Lighted Boats

Baltimore’s annual Lighted Boat Parade consists of more than 50 festive vessels and benefits the Marine’s “Toys for Tots” annual Christmas campaign. Lewis Museum with African dance, drumming performances, workshops, lectures, craft activities, and an African Marketplace celebrating the principle Ujima: Collective Work and Responsibility. This year’s celebration includes performances by Culture Queen, Kwanzaa Storytelling and Kwanzaa Candle Light Ceremony, a special kids’ African fashion show, comic book workshops, print making for kids and more.
