Sharon Creech’s Newbery Medal-winning novel Walk Two Moons comes to life at Baltimore Center Stage this month — kicking off the theatre’s 2019-2020 Family Series.

And it’s a perfect theatre adventure for the big kids in your life!

The story follows Sal, a 13 year old girl on a cross-country road trip with her grandparents to find her mother. To pass the time, Sal entertains her Gram and Gramps with the story of her best friend Phoebe’s mother’s disappearance. Featuring eccentric characters and wild conspiracy theories, Sal’s story takes audiences on a fantastical journey and even helps her come to terms with her own bittersweet truths.

As mentioned, this particular theatre experience is for older kids (Center State suggests ages 10 and up), which is a departure from last year’s Family Series that really focused on preschool and elementary-age theatre goers. Why? The theatre is trying to expand theatre access to all ages of kids, not just introduce the littlest theatregoers to the stage. Mayhem Poets, which plays in February, is recommended for kids ages 12 and up. ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and Havana Hop (playing in December and May respectively) are perfect for younger kids.

You have two opportunities to catch Walk Two Moons this month: Friday, October 25 at 10 AM or Saturday, October 26 at 1 PM. Tickets are $20/pp but if you buy more, you save! Buy 4 or more and all tickets are $15.
