Want to join us for summer fun next week? We’ll be blinging backpacks at Wee Chic Boutique on Tuesday and still have spaces available in Wednesday’s Kids Yoga Class at Core Cycle Studios (non-Passport Kid Passes available!). Baltimore City Summer Restaurant Week

Baltimore is a delicious city – it’s the local mecca of food. Just last year, Thrillist named Baltimore one of “The Best Food City in Every State.” If you aren’t dining here, you are missing out. During Baltimore Summer Restaurant Week, enjoy two-course brunch and lunch menus from $12-20, and three-course dinner menus from $20-$35. Family Yoga & BYO Picnic at Canton Waterfront Park

AFRAM Festival

AFRAM—one of the largest African American festivals on the East Coast! Hosted in Baltimore City’s Druid Hill Park, this 745-acre urban oasis draws crowds of over 100,000 each year! For two days, people from all walks of life come together to enjoy national entertainment, local eats and much more. The AFRAM Festival is a celebration of African American life, music and culture. This family-oriented event is filled with entertainers, children’s activities, arts, history, education, health & wellness and more. MORE

Mirabelle’s Beach Party!

Bring your beach towel and come join Mirabelle and Mr. Muller at The Children’s Bookstore to celebrate their newest book, Mirabelle Goes to the Beach! MORE

Backyard Science Days
August 10 and 11 | 12 PM – 4 PM | Maryland Science Center

Science happens all around us and lots of it happens right outside your door. MSC’s annual Backyard Science Days take place this year on August 10 and 11 from Noon until 4. Meet some familiar backyard animals, help build a giant playhouse outside The Shed, get up close and personal with animal scat and more. Plus, see the new IMAX film Backyard Wilderness. All activities are free with paid admission, IMAX requires an extra fee. MORE

Lexington Market Garden Day

Go green this August! Lexington Market holds Garden Day, a free event for families, on the Arcade Stage of the Market. The event features healthy plant-based food demos with recipes, gardening techniques and tips, children’s activities, and arts and crafts. Produce bags and microgreens will be available. MORE

Wagging Tales with the SPCA

Join Port Discovery and the Maryland SPCA on select Saturdays from 1:30PM – 2:30PM for Wagging Tales! Each child participant will also receive a stuffed dog or cat along with a ‘certificate of adoption’! This Saturday, learn that not all heroes wear capes, some wear leashes! The Dog Days of Summer Block Party is BACK and this year the Creative Alliance is focused on the tiniest 4-legged friends – PUPPIES! Second Sunday Family Fun Day in the Park

Second Sunday Family Fun Day in the Park! Fun activities for all ages 11AM-3PM during Second Sundays in Gwynns Falls Leakin Park, including: Miniature steam train rides for all ages with Chesapeake & Allegheny Live Steamers; Open House at the picturesque HIstoric Chapel & magnificent historic villa Orianda House; and Nature Art Making for young or old and self-guided walk on woodland trails to see the Nature Art in the Park (NatureArtBaltimore) outdoor exhibit. Free Second Sunday Admission

A Morning in Mining History

Have you ever wanted to fish Centennial Lake at night? Now’s your chance! Join Howard County Recreation & Parks for a unique opportunity to fish the lake after hours. Bring your own fishing pole, bait, tackle, bug repellant, flashlight or lantern, chair, or boat. Advanced registration is encouraged but on-site registration is available. The Howard County Fair has been delighting families for 74 years! (Did we mention kids 10 and under are FREE!?!) Amusement rides are open from 12 noon till 11 p.m. on both Saturdays and on Sunday. Chrysalis Kids: Beat Bugs A Musical Adventure

Celebrate summer by cooling off at the nature center with activities down at the Middle Patuxent River! Bring your own non-perishable picnic, and join a Robinson Naturalist at the river for lunch and fun, family-friendly river games. Search the stream for big and small animals! Make boats and race them downstream! Come dressed to get wet. You’ll wade in the river so wear closed-toed water shoes. Participants must check-in for program at front desk. MORE
