Each year, around 8 million tons of plastic enters the ocean. This Saturday, on World Oceans Day, people around the world are working together to protect our ocean and end plastic pollution.
Looking for ideas on how you can help? Head to the National Aquarium on June 8, 2019, for a day full of interactive activities, games and educational opportunities throughout the building. Each activity is designed to teach how plastics can impact our backyards, our ocean and our lives. All activities are included with Aquarium admission.
If you can’t make it to the Aquarium, check out WorldOceansDay.org for ideas and resources. While you’re there, join the #TOGETHERWECAN? social media campaign. (It’s easy to do!) To join:
- Take a photo of yourself or a group of people with your arms in the air
- Crop the photo so your hands touch the upper corners of the photo frame
- Share your photo on social media and use the hashtag #TogetherWeCan?
- Search the hashtag on social media to see others joining you around the world
Together we can find solutions and take action to protect the planet we all share.
