June 21st is not only the summer solstice, it’s also Make Music Day!
Make Music Day (or just “Make Music”) is a free celebration of music around the world, It’s not your typical music festival; it’s open to anyone who wants to take part!
According to the website, “thousands of amateur musicians play in public spaces, often for their first time. Professional musicians perform for new audiences, who come out from under their headphones to hear unfamiliar groups risk-free. And everyone is invited to sing along and enjoy the first day of summer.”
To honor Make Music Day, the Baltimore County Public Library has arranged concerts at nearly all of their branches. From classical guitarists to jazz combos, they offer music for sophisticated tastes as well as for the youngest family members. In the mood for pop, R&B, or even a harpist? They’ve got you covered!
Tonight, they are hosting a family-friendly blue grass concert at Holt Park and Center for the Arts. (cool) progeny will be there with a craft — and Summer Passport families get a special surprise if they check in with us AND show that they are registered for BCPL’s Summer Reading Challenge!
Don’t have a Summer Adventure Passport? You can purchase one tonight at our tent tonight or order online.
