Former Raven’s wide receiver Matthew Cherry is headed to The Children’s Bookstore next week… as an author.
Cherry will be joining New York Times bestselling illustrator Vashti Harrison on Wednesday to celebrate the release of their picture book collaboration, Hair Love.
Targeting ages 4-8, Hair Love takes readers through a joyful day in the life of Zuri and her father. When Zuri wakes up on that special day, she knows she needs a perfect hairstyle for the occasion. Although her natural hair has a mind of its own, Zuri loves that it lets her be herself. When dad steps in to help, things don’t go exactly as planned. But with a little bit of patience, and a whole lot of love, they find the perfect solution just in time for the big surprise.
The book celebrates the love between a father and daughter while shining a spotlight on embracing one’s natural beauty. And, if School Library Journal is write, Zuri’s expressions are guaranteed to get some laughs during read-a-louds!
The book hits shelves at your favorite bookstores on Tuesday — but Baltimore families get a very special treat! You can meet Cherry and Harrison on Wednesday, May 15th at 6 PM at The Children’s Bookstore in Lauraville. Be sure to RSVP so that they know you’re coming.
… and stay tuned for the release of the Hair Love animated short later this year!
