Discounts and Freebies for Furloughed Families
One of our favorite local family deal sites has partnered with businesses to offer freebies for furloughed families. From indoor skydiving at iFLY to bowling at Lucky Strike to glow-in-the-dark Monster Mini Golf to playtime for little ones at My Gym and much more, their hope is that families affected by the furlough are able to get out of the house and enjoy some quality time together without worrying about money.
Free Admission to Local Museums
To show support during this tough time, many local museums are opening their doors to federal workers for FREE during the government shutdown.

Free Open Play at aMuse
aMuse Toys at Quarry Lake hosts open play every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:30 AM – 11:15 AM. They are offering all federal workers FREE open play sessions for the remainder of the shutdown. Come on in and play, register online with the code FEDERAL to receive the discount, or show your federal ID for walk-in registration
Free Rice Bowl at Ejji Ramen
Ejji Ramen restaurant in Belvedere Square offering a free dish to federal employees during the government shutdown. Federal workers with a valid government ID will be able to order a free rice bowl and the the free dish will be rotated every few days. The offer will remain available to federal workers “until stated otherwise.”
Free Lunch at Villagio Cafe
Villagio Cafe in Towson is offering a free lunch special to all federal employees presenting with a government-issued ID! This deal is valid from 11am-3pm during weekday (M-F) lunch hours, and will end after lunch next Friday 1/25. Offer is valid for that individual only and for dine-in only.
Free Food for Pets
The Baltimore Humane Society through its Bmore Kind Pet Food Bank, will be distributing dog and cat food donated by Safeway for free to all furloughed federal workers. Pet owners needing help can come to the Baltimore Humane Society during regular operating hours. The Baltimore Humane Society staff will portion out a month’s supply of food per person until supplies run out. Federal employee I.D. will be required to receive aid. Yoga Tree Baltimore is offering free weekday classes to furloughed government workers through the end of January. You must bring your government ID to EVERY class you’d like to take.
