Family Fun Day at Power Plant Live: Halloween Edition

Join Power Plant Live! for a spooktacular Family Fun Day! There will be Halloween-inspired fun for the whole family including face painting, themed crafts, trick or treating, and a costume swap for the kids. Entry is free, with a $5 donation encouraged per child. All proceeds will be donated to the Maryland SPCA—who will be bringing along adoptable pets to join in the spooky fun. Don’t miss the Annual Hampden HalloweenFest taking place from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, October 31 on “The Avenue” (36th Street). The event, sponsored by the merchants of historic Hampden, was created to encourage handmade artistry and creativity in Halloween costume design across all ages. Costumed children and adults are encouraged to go shop-to-shop for Trick-or-Treating from 5-6 p.m. with participating merchants along 36th Street, northward up Falls Road, and southward down Chestnut Avenue. Join Jewish Museum of Maryland for a special Halloween weekend inspired by their current exhibit Inescapable: The Life and Legacy of Harry Houdini. Learn a little magic, conjure up some delicious treats and enjoy some marvelous crafts. The Great Lantern Parade and Festival

The community that creates together is GREAT together! With nearly 20 years of lantern making and spectacle-creating under their belts, the diverse communities of Baltimore come together each year to create The Great Halloween Lantern Parade and Festival in Patterson Park. Each year on the last Saturday of October, the day begins with a family Halloween festival, featuring an adorable kids costume contest, lantern making, hayrides, yoga, live music, an arts & crafts market, and more. Local food trucks and a beer garden provide a place for families and friends spread a picnic blanket and enjoy the afternoon.

Once the sun sets, the magic begins. Everyone is welcome to grab a lantern and march with thousands of neighbors, artists, musicians, and performers. Many more line the parade route to watch the delightful Great Halloween Lantern Parade wind through the night!! (Rain Date October 28th). MORE

Tricks and Treats on the Ridge

Dress up in your best costume and stroll through the woods and meadow at Oregon Ridge to learn about the tricks plants and animals have up their “leaves”. Participants will get a treat at each stop so bring a bag. Hike is approximately ½ mile. Advance registration is required, groups will leave from the Nature Center in 10 minute intervals, you will be assigned a leave time at registration.
