Super Science Sleepover: The Academy of Wizardry

Learn the science behind the magic and go back to school wizard-style. Test your green thumb in herbology and become a potions master as you mix up crazy concoctions. Get sorted into your science house and use your wizarding skills to fly through a maze to defeat the dragon. All of the exhibits will be open for exploration, there will be an IMAX and Planetarium show, and special activities will be located throughout the building. Johnny Appleseed Festival

Each year, Weber’s Cider Mill Farm celebrates the beginning of the fall season with their annual, Johnny Appleseed Festival. As you probably know, the story goes that Johnny Appleseed (whose real name was John Chapman) traveled about a great part of the country planting apple seeds. Now there is a good chance that you may meet Johnny Appleseed (or at least, an actor portraying him) when you come to visit Weber’s Cider Mill Farm during the festival. Lots of fun activities for the whole family. Admission includes 1-hayride, and all day admission to the barnyard activity area with the straw maze, mini-straw maze, Hillside Slide, Duck Races, and more. Live Bluegrass! Satyr Hill Band will play from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day.MORE

NASA’s Best Students: Build a Satellite to Orbit the Moon

Family Farm Day is a one-day festival celebrating all things agriculture. Drawing 5,000 visitors from throughout central Maryland, the festival has something to offer attendees of all ages including great food, music, exhibitions, tractor rides, art and craft vendors and educational programs. At Family Farm Day visitors can listen to the sounds of live music, browse the offerings of a sugar maple lined alee featuring locally grown fruits, vegetables, flowers, honey, meats, and cheeses.
