Family Fun Friday

Join in celebrating Baltimore’s oldest holiday and commemorate Defenders’ Day 2018 at Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine! All weekend long park staff and partners will offer programs and demonstrations to honor the successful defense of the city from British attack and the writing of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ in 1814. The weekend will also include flag raisings, fireworks, period music performances, and artillery firing. MORE

WTMD’s Saturday Morning Tunes Movie Soundtrack Show!

The 2018-2019 Saturday Morning Tunes season kicks off with the soundtracks to “Moana” and “Frozen” performed live at the Baltimore School for the Arts! How many times have you listened to these songs in the car or watched these movies at home? We’ve asked two of Baltimore’s best bands, Outcalls and Black Root Underground (Jamaal from Baby Beats and his band) to learn the songs from “Frozen” and “Moana,” and play them from start to finish in the Baltimore School for the Arts’ gorgeous, historic Schaefer ballroom! Everyone is encouraged to dress like their favorite character from these films. Doors open 30 minutes in advance. There will also be a photo booth, coffee from Garrison Forest School, and an assortment of delicious organic snacks. MORE

Fairy Pollinator Garden Workshop

Kids will learn how important native plants are to bees and other wildlife. They’ll learn why bees are not only friends with flowers, but also our friends as well and they will experience the benefits of pollinators. Kids will interact with a hands-on pollinator fairy garden containing all the elements of an outdoor garden including native, pollinator-friendly plants; a miniature mason bee house; a pile of sticks for bees to nest in; and a water source for wildlife. Join us for some SUPER fun and a great cause! Grab your cape and zoom to Garrison Forest School for our 6th Annual Superhero Social to benefit Little Lion Challenge! Superhero sightings, face painting, arts, crafts, snacks, live music, HEROIC fun, and visits from your favorite superheroes. It’s the caped crusader celebration you don’t want to miss!
