The crustaceans have invaded Mt. Washington Tavern! Throughout the month of July, the Tavern is offering a special crustacean-infused menu. Crab and avocado stack. Parmesan-encrusted Rockfish Filet topped with crab. Crab bowls. Crab quiche. Pure Maryland deliciousness.
But what do pint-sized palates think of the limited-edition menu? We brought six local kids to the Tavern to check it out. Here’s what they thought…
Dish: Crab and Parmesan-Encrusted Wild Caught Rockfish Filet
“It’s surprisingly good,” said Alex. “It’s a bit salty but I would come and order it.” The sweet potato fries that accompanied the dish were a favorite. Reluctantly, he tried the stuffed tomato. That was “actually pretty good,” too! He gives the dish four and a half stars (out of five).
Dish: Crab and Avocado Stack
Our youngest taste testers tried this one. While the lemon garnish was a big hit — and the first thing they both tried — Mia happily ate the crab and mango, too. “I just don’t like the abvacabo,” she said.
Our other taster? He prefers mac and cheese.
Dish: Maryland Grilled Cheese
Your favorite grilled cheese goes crabby! Brennan gave the sandwich “two thumbs up.” Although he wasn’t a big fan of the ‘gooey-ness’ dripping on his hands. (But check out that cheesy grin!)
Dish: Jumbo Lump Crab Bowl
A fun way to get your kids to eat their veggies: crab on their salad! Celia, who is a self-proclaimed sushi fan, said she would order the salad and just eat the crab. So… maybe it’s not the best way to get your kids to eat veggies. Her beverage pairing suggestion? “Lemonade is perfect!”
Dish: Soft Shell Crab Sandwich
We know you’re shocked by this… but even our most adventurous eater was not a fan of the soft shell crab sandwich. Lila doesn’t think other kids will like it either — and suggested that they order the Crab and Avocado Stack instead. “That is DELICIOUS!” she said.
Don’t worry. She was all smiles after the tasting.
Have your kiddos channel their inner pirate and head to Mt. Washington Tavern for lunch or dinner! This special menu is available through the end of the month. Be sure to let us know which dish is your favorite in the comments!
