Under the Big Top at the B&O Railroad Museum

It might not be getting one with bugs and nature, but you have to admit there is a lot of ‘campiness’ at the Circus! Come one! Come all! To the B&O’s circus celebration extravaganza Under the Big Top! Join them for lots of interactive fun as you test your balance walking across the “high” beam, try your luck while playing carnival games, explore your creative side as you design and paint your very own big top, and so much more! Storytime begins at 12 pm. Train rides depart promptly at 11:30 am, Thursday and Friday only. MORE

PreK Nature Drop In: Fishy Tales

Introduce your little ones to nature’s wonders while enjoying stories, crafts, games, songs, and outdoor activities together. This program is for families. Groups must call the office to schedule a trip. Dress for the weather. Please arrive and sign-in before start time. Pre-K Nature Drop-ins meet once a month during the summer. MORE


Kayaking Adventures

Experience the water of the upper Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries via kayak. Splash, paddle, and glide your way through games, wildlife discoveries, and fun on the water! Ages 11-15. MORE

Libraries Rock: Make Your Own Musical Instruments
2 PM – 3 PM | Baltimore County Public Library – Owings Mills | FREE

Make a pan flute and a trumpet using regular household materials. Space is limited. Tickets available 30 minutes before program. For ages 6 to 12. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. (Perfect for making music around the campfire!) MORE

Puppet Karaoke

Build or borrow a puppet, take to the stage, and sing along to your favorite songs in this program that’s perfect for sharing with family. MORE


Wednesday in the Woods: Cardboard Cardinals

Call of the Wild: Sounds of Nature

Nature Cabin Open Hours

The Nature Cabin at Holt Park is open weekly with special activities, live animals, and a summer scavenger hunt. MORE

Fiddlers and Fireflies
6 PM – 9 PM | Mt. Pleasant | $10 per car

Begin your summer with an old fashioned family picnic. As the fireflies begin to flicker under the trees and in the tall grasses, listen to musician and storyteller Bill Wellington, who electrifies audiences with his storytelling, “roses are red poems,” and family music programs. Little kids and adults, come dance to the fiddles and sing old-timey songs! Learn interesting facts about fireflies and make a firefly craft. MORE


Mud Play Pop-Up Play Date
10 AM – 1 PM | Carrie Murray Nature Center | $5/Family or FREE for Summer Passport Holders

Join (cool) progeny at Carrie Murray Nature Center to celebrate International Mud Day! Carrie Murray will be offering lots of mud play fun. Come dressed to get muddy! This play date is designed for children under age 10 with a caregiver. This pop-up play date is FREE for Summer Passport Holders (RSVP in advance) and $5/family for non-passport holders. Natures Night Lights
