In search of a long lost patch from her grandmother’s quilt, Zoe and her friend Winston travel to the Gullah Sea Islands where they meet the slick-talking Bruh Rabbit, who tricks them into handing over their quilt and vanishes to the magical island of Sankofaland. With time running out, Zoe and Winston enlist the help of some new friends to catch the trickster and find the missing patch before it’s too late.
Find out if Zoe and Winston find this missing patch at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum this July!
“Callaloo: The Trickster and the Magic Quilt” is the third book in the Callaloo children’s books series written by Marjuan Canady and illustrated by Nabeeh Bilal. To celebrate the release of the book, Callaloo is bringing their award-winning puppets to the Reginald F. Lewis Museum for one show only on July 14th at noon.
What is Callaloo? An education-based children’s media brand that promotes cultural literacy and social awareness through books, animation, live performance, digital content, games and arts education tools. Callaloo is the brainchild of two DC artists and entrepreneurs Marjuan Canady and Nabeeh Bilal. It’s a true collaborative effort between the two. Marjuan brings her theatrical background and Nabeeh brings his visual artistry and animation skills to the brand.
