There is only one thing more adorable that a kid dressed up and dancing… hundreds of kids dressed up and dancing!

That vision was the inspiration for Sam Sessa when he started developing the concept for WTMD’s Mini Masquerade Ball at the Lyric next week. Known for spearheading the station’s Saturday Morning Tunes series, Sessa found Baltimore was lacking live entertainment designed with kids in mind. Saturday Morning Tunes has brought renowned kids’ acts to Baltimore for their monthly program at the studio; The Mini Masquerade Ball kicks that concept up to stilt-walker level.

“My kids love getting dressed up and dancing around the house,” said Sess. “So I thought, ‘Why not throw a big party for them – and for us parents too?’ Let’s all cut loose for a couple hours and still be home in time for naps.”

Mini-masqueraders (and their grown-ups) will be treated to live music, crafts, circus arts, photo fun, snacks, face painting, hula hooping, and more. While the event is at The Lyric, it’s not a traditional seated concert. Entertainment is happening in every nook and cranny of the theatre — letting families move and groove the whole two hours. (Because, as we all know, kids and seats are pretty much like oil and water).

Tickets are $15 for kids (ages 2 and up) and $17 for adults. Kids under 2 are free and family “four packs” of tickets are available for $50. Ticket price includes all activities, snacks, an apple cider toast, and lots of coffee. Some slightly stronger beverages will be available for parents, but those are priced separately.

The best part? Proceeds from this event benefit children’s programming at WTMD. So that means more family fun is headed our way!
