Have outstanding library fines at Enoch Pratt? You can help out the Maryland Food Bank and have your fines forgiven.

Beginning January 2, library patrons can bring canned goods to any Pratt location and receive money off their library fines as part of the annual Food for Fines campaign. Each canned food donated takes $1 off their library fines.

(Of course, you don’t have to have library fines to participate! Just saying…)

Last year, Pratt Library collected 8,124 pounds of food, enough food to provide meals for 6,700 Marylanders.

“Hunger doesn’t end once the holidays are over ” said Maryland Food Bank President and CEO Carmen Del Guercio. “The food for fines campaign is one we look forward to every year because it offers local residents an easy way to show their support by helping us restock our shelves after a busy holiday season.

There is no limit to how much you can donate. Cans must be unopened and unexpired. No glass containers will be accepted.

The program runs through January 31.
