Baltimore Social has a new name — and their launching Volo City with a family-friendly launch party on Saturday in Port Covington. It’s all about the kids at the event as they play and eat for free — and sign-up for FREE Volo City Kids summer youth sports leagues!

Wait — free? Yes, FREE! Kids ages 6-12 can play a variety of sports (think football, volleyball, soccer, and sailing ) through the Volo City Kids Foundation. Volo City organizes adults and kids leagues in seven cities with more than 175,000 members nationwide. For every adult that plays, a kid plays for free through the Volo City Kids Foundation. The program even offers a free meal at every league play.

“Providing the opportunity for our youth to have fun and be active through quality programs is critical to the success of our city,” said Councilman Brandon Scott in a press release. “This is why I partnered with Volo City to start the kids leagues and continue to be a coach today. I see first-hand the difference of connecting caring adult volunteers with the kids makes in their lives.”

According to The Sage Policy Group economic analysis report, the Volo City Baltimore City operation supported approximately $8.1 million in economic impact in 2016 and is estimated to exceed $20 million by 2019. Adult player participants reached 35,000 in 2016 and will nearly double by 2019.

Featuring a live band and DJ, kids play area, food trucks and adult beverages, the event will also feature tastings with Sagamore Rye, games with FX Studios and Pixelated photo booths. This will be a celebration for players, volunteers and families throughout Baltimore City.
