Baltimore family events this weekend are bursting with sights, sounds and flavor. Flavor? Yep, because… National Cheeseburger Day!

Didn’t know this Sunday was that hallowed day set aside for the celebration of the quintessential American cuisine, our iconic cheeseburger, cheeseburger? No worries, we’ve got ya covered. Roving reporters and (cool) foodies in residence, the mom and kiddo duo of Kit and Dixon, have taste-tested for you. Milkshake in Concert @ The Garrison Forest School 
September 17| 9 AM – 4 PM

Come rock with our pals Milkshake! You know them, they’re the same Baltimore, Grammy-nominated kids’ rock band that kicked up the fun at our Superhero Social. The concert is open to the public, but registration is required at Children ten and under are $5.00/each. Children 11 and up and adults are FREE. There is lots of free parking too! In addition to singing and dancing with Milkshake, you and your family will enjoy: Hula-hooping with Hoop Love, Baltimore’s incredible hula hoop performers! Playing games with a giant parachute! BrainFest is a day of fun and learning, dedicated to the brain. Expect loads of fun activities like arts and crafts, escape the brain, games, pizza, lectures and Q and A with leading neuroscientist, interactive demonstrations, presentations by local science organizations, giveaways and so much more! All you’ll need is a pair of comfortable shoes to walk around in and your natural curiosity. The event is free! MORE

Musical Petting Zoo @ The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore
September 17 | 10 AM – 1 PM

Gather your little critters for a wild new adventure at the zoo. Children and Families have the opportunity to enjoy a musical “petting zoo” (NO ANIMALS), this includes checking out musical instruments, playing them and even chatting with an orchestra player on how to play them! Superhero Walk for the Baltimore Child Abuse Prevention Center
September 17 | 12 PM – 7 PM

Join our friends from the Baltimore Child Abuse Prevention Center for their 4th Superhero Walk this Saturday, September 17th at Lake Montebello. This FREE family event for a great cause is a fun-filled romp around Lake Montebello in your finest superhero costume to raise awareness to around the issue of child abuse and it’s prevention. All are welcome to attend, and superhero costumes are optional (although highly encouraged!) music, face-painting, healthy snacks, and cape-making station will be on-hand for all to enjoy.

Baltimore Seafood Fest

Baltimore loves their seafood, that’s for sure! Baltimore also loves all the wonderful local restaurants that truly make this city one of the best places for foodies to live or visit. Why the Baltimore Seafood Festival? Baltimoreans are so proud of their crab cakes, crab soup, shrimp salad, local oysters, and of course, Maryland blue crabs. It seems fitting to host a waterfront festival showcasing some of Baltimore’s favorite restaurants serving their signature seafood dishes! MORE

Crazy For You: Young Performers Edition

Trucks for Tots @ The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore

Honk, honk, toot, toot- big trucks are coming to the Zoo! On September 18th, a variety of big trucks will be “on exhibit” at the top of Buffalo Yard Road, inside the Zoo, from 10am – 1pm. Kids of all ages are welcome to come visit the trucks,  take pictures, touch, and even go inside some of these amazing vehicles! Trucks for Tots is FREE with Zoo admission or with membership. MORE

Anika Densie “Moster Truck” Book Event

Keep the truck theme rollin’ with this fun author event at The Ivy Bookstore. Ready, set, go! The monster truck race is on in this frightfully delightful picture book.  On a spooky speedway, Monster Trucks moan! Monster Trucks grumble! Monster Trucks groan! Join Frankentruck, Zombie Truck, Ghost Truck and more as they race to the finish line. But one of these trucks isn’t quite who you think. Who will win the Monster Truck race? Anika Denise is a children’s book author and poet.  Her most recent picture books include Monster Trucks and Baking Day at Grandma’s, illustrated by her husband Christopher Denise. Robinson Nature Center Open House

Celebrate Robinson Nature Center’s 5th birthday with a fun-filled open house. Come see what’s new, including their live animal wall and new additions to the Nature Place. Take part in live animal presentations, guided nature walks, face-painting, crafts, and shows in our planetarium. Enjoy music, activities with our partners, food vendors, and an outdoor picnic area. Baltimore Farmers Market & Bazaar

The leaves are starting to fall and before long the stalls at Baltimore’s favorite farmers market will be closed for the season. So get down and grab your fresh yum and seasonal flora while it lasts! The Baltimore Farmers Market and Bazaar is Maryland’s largest producers-only market (producers-only meaning all vendors make what they sell), shoppers can revel at the sight of a vast quantity of foods, including crisp seasonal fruits and vegetables, poultry, seafood, beef, pork, lamb, rabbit, fresh baked goods, flavorful herbs and organically raised and produced milk, yogurt, butter, eggs and cheese products. Additionally, dozens of food vendors add spice to the market with multicultural cuisine such as popular pit beef sandwiches, omelets and breakfast burritos, crepes, wood fired pizzas, pies and quiches, soups, noodles and dumplings. Super Sunday @ Port Discovery Children’s Museum
