Sunflower Soiree
August 6th ⎟  5 PM – 8 PM ⎟ Baltimore Center for Maryland Agriculture and Farm Park
MARC has planted nearly 3 acres of sunflowers at the Baltimore County Farm Park. So, there seemed to be no better reason to have a party than to celebrate this remarkable plant. And remarkable, may be an understatement. Bring a picnic dinner and your camera for some fabulous photo ops! Live music, wine tastings and sale by DeJon Vineyards, fields will be open for pick-your own, special guest appearance by Oscar Wilde himself. Dog Days of Summer Block Party
August 8th ⎟  5 PM – 10 PM ⎟ Creative Alliance
The Creative Alliance is closing the street in front of their space for a FREE community block party to honor our best friends and the the Dog Days of Summer! They will be setting up an outdoor movie screen to watch Best In Show. Doggy Photo shoot in the BUS Stop, make your own doggy ears to wear, have your face painted like your pet, get involved amazing local pet charities, look at pet inspired artwork inside Creative Alliance, and more! Celebrate Local Festival

Over 20 local vendors will be on hand with food, exhibits, and activities for the whole family. All proceeds from the event will be put towards TALMAR’s horticultural therapy programs to help children and adults with special needs. MORE

Really Rosie
August 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th ⎟  11 AM, 2 PM ⎟ The Thomas-Rice Auditorium, Spring Grove Hospital Center
Rosie, the sassiest kid on her block of Brooklyn’s Avenue P, entertains herself and her friends by acting out show biz fantasies, notably directing and starring in an Oscar-winning movie. Based on Maurice Sendak’s The Sign on Rosie’s Door and Nutshell Library series, Really Rosie is a jewel for children and adults. Author is a winner of a Caldecott Medal, National Book Award, and a National Medal of the Arts. Composer is a winner of a National Academy of Songwriters Lifetime Achievement Award, a Grammy Trustees Award, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Library of Congress’s Gershwin Award for Popular Song. Animal Super Powers

EcoAdventures will be introducing children to the most amazing Super heroes in the animal Kingdom!! Which animal has the strongest bite?…can climb walls, or virtually disappear, or even can stretch like a rubber band? Spectators beware: are you brave enough to volunteer and let a tarantula crawl up your belly, wrestle a giant snake or a gator? Get all the answers In this fascinating exploration of the super powers of some of natures’ most amazing animals with all the bells and whistles of smoke, glow in the dark and hilarious props! Science can happen in a lab, science can happen in space and science can happen in your own backyard! Head tothe Maryland Science Center’s 10th annual Backyard Science Days for a day of animal encounters and hands-on activities. Race vegetables, build a beetle habitat, plant seeds, and much more.
