I have a stash of vintage buttons my 70 year old neighbor so generously gifted me a few years ago. I really treasure the buttons but the crafter in me is always thinking of ways to use them! This year, I had the idea to glue them to blank note cards with the saying “Cute as a Button” for Valentine’s Day.
When making homemade Valentine’s Day Cards for the kids classmates, the cards really need to be something pretty easy to make in an assembly line. Otherwise, you will be up all night trying to make the cards! These cards are very simple to make. For smaller children you can write the phrase and have them help write the names or older children can do the whole thing on their own!
diy valentines day cards for kids
- small blank cards
- hole puncher
- baker’s twine or thin ribbon
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- buttons
- a marker
Step 1
Begin by punching a hole near the edge of the side of the card or the top. You want to keep the hole near the edge because you will be tying a ribbon (or twine) through this then covering the hole with a button. If the hole is too far in the center,it will be harder to cover.
Step 2
Tie baker’s twine or thin ribbon through the hole and into a bow. Snip the edges to make it look neat.
