Baltimore Book Festival
Bookworms and literary nuts unite this weekend for Baltimore’s annual book festival — taking place for the first time EVER at the Inner Harbor, Friday – Sunday. That means plenty of story-fused FREE fun for all ages plus ample parking. With 100+ exhibitors and three days of events, Baltimore is set to show the world books are anything but boring. #EpicBookFest for children and young adults on Friday from 10am to 4pm — but fun, kid-friendly stuff happens all weekend. Book Festival Flick: Fantastic Mr. Fox
Head to the Baltimore Book Festival in the Inner Harbor on Friday, September 26 and stick around afterwards for a FREE screening of Fantastic Mr. Fox at AVAM on Federal Hill. With seating for more than a thousand on the natural amphitheater formed by Federal Hill and a 30-foot wide screen held from above by a Giant Golden Hand, catching this screening is the perfect way to end your first day at the Baltimore Book Festival. Dogfest Featuring Paws On Parade Walkathon
Dog lovers and dog owners!  Baltimore Humane Society‘s Dogfest featuring Paws on Parade Fundraiser Walkis Saturday, September 27th.   It’s a dog day extravaganza for pets, pet owners, and pet lovers that benefits animals in need of care and refuge at the 365 acre no-kill shelter. Backstage at Center Stage
Center Stage’s annual free, family open house, will feature tours, workshops, demonstrations, and performances throughout the theater. Penguin Coast Opening at The Maryland Zoo
Penguin Coast, the Zoo’s new state-of-the-art African penguin exhibit, will open to guests on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10:00 amPenguin Coast will bring guests up-close to penguins and white-breasted cormorants in a vivid re-creation of their natural habitat along the coasts and islands of South Africa. Penguin Coast will provide a richer and more diverse living environment for the Zoo’s current colony of African black-footed penguins, including a185,000 gallon pool surrounding the indoor Conservation Center which will house the birds’ nest boxes, a hospital room, kitchen and keeper work space.  This space, at more than 1,920 square feet, will allow the Zoo to eventually grow the African penguin colony up to 100 birds. Also opening on September 27 is the Zoo’s Marsh Aviary in the Maryland Wilderness. MORE INFO

National You Make It Go Day at Port Discovery
Join Port Discovery for a local celebration of National You Make It Go Day presented by UMIGO! UMIGO – You Make It Go – is a free online world that helps early elementary-age children discover the fundamentals of math through fun, vibrant stories, songs and games. They will be hosting a variety of hands-on, interactive activities from 11am – 3pm including: The Umiball Challenge, Skip Count Crafts, Wingspan: A communal art project,  and  UMI Towers. Pumpkin Theatre Presents Aladdin
What would you do with three wishes? This is the question that haunts the humble tailor Aladdin as he stumbles across a magic lamp and falls head first into adventure.
