First Fridays at The Maryland Science Center
Admission for First Fridays at The Maryland Science Center includes the permanent exhibit halls, planetarium, and IMAX Theater on Friday evening beginning at 5:00pm. First Fridays take place October through March. All visitors pay just $8 for admission during First Fridays. One low price covers everything except national touring exhibitions. IMAX presentations are at 7:00pm, Planetarium presentations are at 5:40pm, and you will encounter live science during your visit. MORE INFO

Black History Month Celebration at the National Aquarium
National Aquarium’s Cultural Series celebrates Black History Month! The evening will focus on Black History around the Chesapeake Bay region and will feature “Chesapeake Bay Dreaming”, an original play by the award-winning Aquarium on Wheels program. Join us as we recreate one of Baltimore’s legendary jazz clubs, with a cash bar available for those 21 and over. Guests can also participate in an oyster tonging demonstration, enjoy a photo exhibit of Black Watermen by Glen McClure and a display by the Blacks of the Chesapeake Foundation, dance to live R&B/jazz by Eugene Chapman, and enjoy dance performances by Dance Baltimore. Nicolo at St. James Academy Children’s Dinner Theatre
Looking for a fun night that’s delicious and entertaining? Reserve your tickets for St. James Academy’s Children’s Dinner Theatre! The February 7th performance features Nicolo the Juggler! All of the proceeds will be donated to The Ark’s music program, the only state-accredited preschool for homeless children in Baltimore City. The school serves children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old by providing a short-term preschool program promoting the children’s development in all areas, emphasizing language and social skills. Cookies and Canvas at Irvine Nature Center
Is there a better way to spend a wintery weekend morning than eating cookies and painting nature? Cookies and Canvas is hosting a step-by-step painting class at Irvine Nature Center with instructions for your child to come home with a masterpiece. The children paint on gallery wrapped canvas, which is ready to hang with no framing required. Each session offers a new season to paint as part of the four seasons series specially created for Irvine! Ages 5 & up. Children under 5 permitted with parental guidance. Carnival of the Animals + Family Luncheon with the BSO
Come one and all to a musical carnival complete with lions, fish, a dancing turtle and a beautiful swan during this family performance by The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. This Saint-Saëns classic is a delightful way to meet the instruments of the orchestra and let your imagination run wild! Join the BSO for lunch immediately following each family concert! Maple Magic at Irvine Nature Center
There’s magic in the trees! Join Irvine’s naturalists in a quest to make delicious maple syrup. Learn how to identify maple trees, properly tap a tree to collect its sugary sap, and convert the sticky fluid into syrup using Irvine’s enormous evaporator. Part of Pumpkin Theatre’s “Kids for Kids” series, this show will feature actors 5 to 17 years of age working with Pumpkin Artists to present a professional Main Stage Production. Follow the musical adventure of Horton, an elephant who one day hears voices coming from a speck of dust and spends the rest of his days protecting his new friends from WhoVille. The Cat in the Hat, Maisy, Getrude McFuzz , The Wickersham Brothers, Jo Jo and more all join in on this mash up of Dr Suess’ favorite tales. Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic
Disney on Ice – 100 Years of Magic brings to life more than 65 characters from 18 beloved Disney stories in this unique skating spectacular. Conceived as a celebration of Walt Disney’s 100th birthday in 2001, the show is back and revamped, featuring Disney favourites from Toy Story, Tiana from The Princess and The Frog, characters from Tangled…not to mention familiar friends from ‘Finding Nemo’ and ‘The Incredibles’ and family favourites Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, Aladdin, Cinderella and Snow White, to mention but a few. NEW EXHIBIT!  Check Out (Cool) Children’s Book Art
“Beyond Words: The Artistry of Illustrated Children’s Books,” a major exhibition highlighting illustrations from children’s picture books, premieres at McDaniel College this week.
