Oftentimes, I find kids meals boring. There are only so many ways you can creatively fry a potato or butter noodles. So when I stumble upon a restaurant that does kids meals right (you know, like adult food: the pint-sized version), I do a little happy dance. My kid does, too.

Hello, Townhouse Kitchen + Bar. Adult AND kid-friendly!

While you sit down to a glass of wine and an 8 oz. petit filet, Vietnamese chicken salad, ahi tuna sandwich — or just about anything in between; the selection is pretty great — your mini-me can nosh on simple chicken and broccoli with mashed potatoes.

Other kids meal options? Grilled cheese on sourdough toast, flatbreads, fresh garden salads or an assortment of pasta options. All children’s meals come with a drink (milk or juice) and scoop of ice cream.

… and it’s just $6. Coloring pages and crayons, too.

We recently stopped by Townhouse late afternoon one Saturday and grabbed a table outside. The Lion Man’s stroller rolled right up to the table. Started with some hot pretzels and mustard. Glass of Reisling. People watching perfection.

When the Bug dropped her iPad on her big toe and started screaming like her leg had been amputated, our server kept his cool, complimented her shoes and got her a chocolate milk stat. After she calmed down he told her how much ‘braver she was than he would have been.’ That gets double bonus points in my book. {Had he refilled my wine glass, well, that’d been triple extra bonus points with a cherry on top.}

Been to Townhouse with the kiddos? What did you think?

GETTING THERE: We easily found street parking across the restaurant. Metered, so bring your card or bring change.

COST: $6 kids meals. Adult entrees range from $11 – $32, depending on if you’re grabbing a sandwich or want a steak.

FAMILY ACCESSIBILITY: We ate outside which worked perfect for us, especially with the Bug’s iPad incident. Parked right across the street and had no issues. Need to check on in-restroom changing tables.

KEEP THEM HAPPY: Kids meal comes with crayons and coloring pages. If that doesn’t entertain your kiddo for long, bring a busy bag or iPad so you can enjoy your glass of vino.

(COOL) TIP: Kids in one of those can’t-take-them-anywhere funks? We love takeout from Townhouse. Just saying…
