Get out of the house this weekend — it’s spring! And with everything that’s going on for Baltimore families this weekend, there is absolutely no excuse. Kid-friendy dinner theatre, fairy tale festival, children’s concerts with the BSO, playground crawls, treasure hunts, nano exploration and more… there is something for everyone in the family! Oh, and did we mention the Baltimore Farmer’s Market is BACK this weekend kicking off their 36th season? Welcome, spring! Here are our picks for fam-friendly fun around town this weekend:

Tracey Eldridge with Silly Goose and Val, Dinner Theatre at St. James Academy
Looking for a fun night of fam-friendly entertainment next Friday night? St. James Academy has you covered. Partnering with Silly Goose and Val, their Children’s Dinner Theatre series aims to provide quality local entertainment for children and parents {that ahem, entertains BOTH children and parents!} while raising money for The Ark, a daycare center for homeless children operated by the Episcopal Community Services of Maryland. Fairy Tale Extravaganza
This Saturday and Sunday at the Pratt Library Central Branch! Join them for the kick off of the 11th Annual Fairy Tale Festival. There will be crafts, magic, and lots of fairy tale fun for the whole family. Dress up like a prince or a princess, get your photo taken in our royal throne, and explore all of the fairy tale wonders that the Central Library holds. Pirates Story Hour and Treasure Hunt

Spring Fishing Rodeo at Patterson Park
BCRP’s annual breakaway from winter with our first catch-and-release event of the year. This fun event for kids 15 and under features fishing games, lessons, prizes for fish caught and more. Expect the trout and bass to be bitin’! No fishing license required. Everyone wanting to fish should bring their own rods and tackle; a limited number will be supplied. Bait will be provided. Peter and the Wolf with Bob Brown Puppets and the BSO
The world’s most famous musical fairytale, live with the BSO, Bob Brown Puppets and narrator extraordinaire Rheda Becker. Introduce your child to the instruments of the orchestra and be captivated by Prokofiev’s triumphant tale of a heroic boy and a mischievous wolf. Saturday at 11:00 AM. Tickets are $12-$20. Nano Day at the Maryland Science Center
Explore the exciting world of tiny technologies at the Maryland Science Center’s Nano Day, part of a nationwide festival dedicated to nanoscale science and engineering. Hands-on activities will illuminate the mysteries of this too-small-to-see science that is making waves in many areas, from computers to cancer treatments. Abrakadoodle Open Art House
A colorful, free family event to commemorate the Studio’s first year anniversary. Kids can pain a king-sized canvas mural with a professional artist, create take-home art, pose for photos in our kooky photo booth, paint their faces and dance to “live” guitar tunes. Disney’s Fantasia performed by the BSO
Bewitched broomsticks, playful pansies and one magical mouse. Experience the wonder and splendor of Disney’s fanciful Fantasia projected in theater-quality HD on the Meyerhoff’s huge movie screen and accompanied by the BSO. Opening Day of The Baltimore Farmer’s Market
The Baltimore Farmers’ Market & Bazaar returns April 7 for its 36th season! While strolling through Maryland’s largest producers-only market, shoppers can revel at the sight of a vast quantity of foods, including crisp fruits and vegetables, poultry, seafood, beef, pork, lamb, bison, goat, rabbit, fresh baked goods, flavorful herbs and organically raised and produced milk, yogurt, butter, eggs and cheese products.  Additionally, dozens of food vendors add spice to the market with multicultural cuisine such as popular pit beef sandwiches, omelets and breakfast burritos, crepes, wood fired pizzas, pies and quiches, soups, noodles and dumplings. DBFA’s Playground Crawl
Looking for new spots for family fun? Join the DBFA playground crawl! Every Sunday from April 7 through Memorial Day weekend, we’ll travel around town to some of our favorite parks. Parents can gather to drink coffee, soak up the morning sunshine, meet other parents, and compare notes on the best summer activities-all while the kids explore a new playground. This Sunday they’ll be at the Ridgely’s Delight Tot Lot from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM. MORE INFORMATION

Make Story Puzzles at The Walters Art Museum
In April, roll up your sleeves and put on your smocks at The Walters every Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM – 3 PM and explore paint! As part of their Drop in Art series, kids will take a close look at paintings from the special exhibition, New Eyes on America: The Genius of Richard Caton Woodville, and learn how to use paint in brand new ways to tell our own stories. Prime your puzzle and add pigment to your portraits using big bristles, glistening glazes and painterly pastels. Use art to paint a picture and share the story of who you are! Animal Fools Day(s)

Make Sunday afternoon family time without spending a dime. Every Sunday, join the Baltimore Museum of Art for activities the entire family can enjoy.
