Asian Pacific Heritage Celebration at The National Aquarium
The National Aquarium’s Cultural Series celebrates Asian Pacific Heritage! This event will feature a Chinese Lion parade followed by Kung Fu and Tai Chi forms – line up for the parade at 5pm! You’ll also enjoy beautiful Thai classical & folk dance performances, a calligraphy exhibit and demo and a Taiko drum presentation with audience participation. Kids can make Japanese fans to take home in our arts and crafts area and the Aloha Boys will bring the beautiful sounds of Hawaii to the National Aquarium! An event for the entire family to enjoy! First Fridays at The Maryland Science Center
Admission for First Fridays includes the permanent exhibit halls, planetarium, and IMAX Theater on Friday evening beginning at 5:00pm. First Fridays take place November through March. All visitors pay just $8 for admission during First Fridays. One low price covers everything except national touring exhibitions. IMAX presentations are at 7:00pm, Planetarium presentations are at 5:40pm, and you will encounter live science during your visit. Children under 3 are always free. Drop in Art at The Walters
Our faces can tell a lot about us. Perhaps you know someone with a noble nose, energetic eyes, or a merry mouth! Join museum educators as they help families create artful projects related to the collection, special exhibitions, and family programs. In January, the Walters will help families will re-create our favorite faces in imaginative ways to help us learn more about ourselves and the people we care about! Like to build model rockets, but don’t have a launch pad? Now you do! Anyone can fly at the Goddard model rocket launches, and there are no costs or fees to participate. Rockets, motors and supplies are available at the nearby Goddard Gift Shop (and many hobby shops or toy stores) and you can even get rocket construction and launch tips from our on-site experts on launch day!
