So many fun things happening in and around Charm City this weekend. For a more complete list, check out our calendar. Here are our top picks for family fun this weekend:

Civil War Era Tea Party: Children and families are invited to join the ladies of the Maine Camp Hospital Association for a Civil War era tea party at the B & O Railroad Museum on Saturday. Enjoy tea and snacks that were common in that period. Learn about social and home front issues and the work that was done for wounded soldiers by these ladies during the War. This program does not require reservations and is recommended for families with young children.

African American Family Festival: Carnivale of Cultures: Celebrate the African influence on cultures from Cuba to Brazil and beyond at The Walters on Saturday. Join them as they explore the rich diversity of art, music and dance of African Latin Americans. Learn about poets, artists and heroes of Latin American and African American history. Create your own colorful artwork and discover local Afro-Latin communities. Learn a few new dance steps and be amazed by exciting performances all day! Come early for a special giveaway.

Spaghetti Disco XII: Spaghetti Disco is a totally (cool) wacky neighborhood tradition and benefits the Village Learning Place. This amazing party brings together delicious food, kids’ crafts and games, and great neighbors on a sizzling dance floor. Not too many parties combine meatballs with literacy, the Bee-Gees with the ABCs, like this one does. Get your groove on Saturday night.

Hot Chocolate Walk at Cylburn Arboretum: Perfect winter activity for families with children anxious to get out of the house on Saturday!  Bundle up, grab your gloves, boots and winter coats and join a Cylburn naturalist for a guided walk through the woods to search for signs of winter wildlife. Learn how plants and animals survive the winter season.  Afterwards, enjoy hot cocoa in the Cylburn Mansion.

Meet the Mascots at Sports Legends Museum: Join Sports Legends Museum for a fun filled afternoon with your favorite wild and crazy mascots on Saturday! Meet and greet our special guests and take part in an informative Q&A session about the art of being a mascot. Mascots scheduled to attend include the Baltimore Orioles “Bird,” the Baltimore Ravens “Poe,” Towson University Tiger “Doc,” Bowie Baysox “Louie From Bowie,” Coppin State University “The Eagle,” and Stevenson University “Wild Stang.”

Alexander and the Horrible, Terrible, No Good, Very Bad, Day: One of my favorite children’s books comes to life on stage with Pumpkin Theatre! Nothing is going right for Alexander today, not school, not family, not his best friend, not anything. Sometimes it’s just hard being a kid and getting through the day. And we all have bad days… A fast moving musical, this show is geared toward elementary and middle school children. Shows take place Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Charm City Kids Club Open House: FREE! Come see what everyone is talking about this Saturday! Play in CCKC’s play town, sample a Minishakers class and check out our new Spring schedule with special promotions February 25th only!

Happy Birthday to the B&O Railroad Museum! Come celebrate both the B&O’s 184th birthday as well as the 127th birthday of the historic 1884 Roundhouse this weekend! The B&O programs for this day will focus on both the birth of the oldest railroad in America and the Baldwin’s Roundhouse. Half-price admission for all visitors on Sunday!
