An event every day that begins at 12:00pm, repeating until August 13, 2017
Science doesn’t always happen in a laboratory—it can happen in your own backyard! Get up close and personal with some backyard science at the Maryland Science Center on Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13 during their Backyard Science Days!
Get ready for a day of animal encounters and science activities! Explore your wild side with Wildlife Adventures’ animals. Build a custom driver (complete with googly eyes) for our nature racers. Assemble your own HandiGarden. Make impressions out of clay and natural objects you could find in your own backyard to take home. You might even get to launch a stomp rocket or two!
Plus, step into the mysterious world of bats at Rob Mies’ famed Bat Encounters show. Visitors will come face-to-face with a Big Brown bat from North America, fruit bats from Africa and Asia and the world’s largest bat, a Flying Fox Bat from Malaysia with a 6-foot wingspan. Shows will be on the Harbor Lobby Stage at 1:00pm and 3:00pm both days.
