Olympic athlete and local resident Tiombé Hurd will join the National Children’s Museum in celebrating the 2012 Summer Olympic Games on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. “Go for the Gold,” an Olympic-style competition and program, encourages children to put their athletic and academic abilities to the test with hurdles, long jumps, obstacle courses, geography challenges and more.
Hurd, an Upper Marlboro, Md. resident who participated in the 2004 summer Games in Athens, Greece, holds the American record for the Outdoor Triple Jump.
Heather is editor-in-chief of (cool) progeny. When not scouting the best in everything kid and family, you'll probably find her running The Weisse Group or adventuring around town with her daughter (the Bug) and husband. Can be won over with a good glass of wine or something homemade. Addicted to Pinterest. Only pretends to know what she's doing with her SLR, even though she's got a fantastic lens on it. Thankful it does most of the work for her.
Who, us? We’re putting (cool) back in to the crazy, upside down world of modern parenting. All about raising fun, fashionable, active little thinkers with a strong cuppa coffee on the side.

Takes the Cake. You may know Mary Alice from her reality tv days or from her work at Charm City Cakes, but around this little slice of internet, we adore her for her wit. We love a mom with the two must-have senses for parenthood: common sense and a sense of humor.
