DIY Slime Workshop

Open Studio at The Creative Cow

One of our favorite creative spaces is closing next month. Go get messy before they do! Head to The Creative Cow during their open studio hours to build with imagination playground, splatter paint, craft, and more! $10/child. Activities are designed for ages 2-10. MORE

Let’s Science Summer: Back to School
10 AM – 4 PM | Maryland Science Center | Inner Harbor

Say it isn’t so!  Turn your brain on as the Science Center helps kids get ready to head back to class after an awesome Summer.  Lots of cool science experiments are part of this week along with different engineering challenges, make your own bookmarks, and DIY activities. Can’t make it on Tuesday? There is Back2School science fun happening at the Science Center all week long. Free with paid admission. MORE

Monarch Tag and Release
10 AM | Maryland Farm Park + Extension Service | Cockeysville

Meet University of Maryland Extension Service staff  in the demonstration garden and learn how to protect monarchs by raising larvae and tagging adults. Watch newly emerged monarchs take to the skies. Every Wednesday starting August 16 and running thru October 25 at 10 am weather permitting (monarchs do not fly in colder temperatures or the rain) there will be a tag and release. MORE

Storyville
9 AM – 8 PM | Baltimore County Public Library | Rosedale + Woodlawn
A true gem! Storyville (located at the Baltimore County Public Library Rosedale and Woodlawn branches) is a child-sized village that includes developmentally appropriate books and activities. It gets busy on weekday mornings so go early or plan to go after lunch. MORE

Ride a Fire Engine
10 AM – 4 PM | Fire Museum of Maryland | Cockeysvlle
The Discovery Room at the Fire Museum of Maryland is a place where children of all ages are encouraged to be hands-on! A 1938 Mack fire engine is available to be explored, while child-­size turnout gear is provided as well, including coats, helmets, and boots. You’ll find fire­ related books, toys, and videos, too. Open Wednesday – Saturday during the summer months. MORE

Camp Read A Lot
2 PM | Baltimore County Public Library | Cockeysville Branch

Gather round a campfire for story time, then snuggle in your tents and read to each other. Bring your own sheets, pillows and flashlights to build your tent. Children under 8 with adult. Registration required- one registration per group. FREE. MORE

Auditions: Baltimore Children’s Choir
4:30 PM | Abbott Presbyterian Church | Baltimore

The Baltimore Children’s Choir is having auditions for their 2017-2018 season. Auditions will take place at Abbott Memorial Presbyterian (3426 Bank Street). Auditions are informal. Students do not need to have prior experience. The Baltimore Children’s Choir serves children between the ages of 5-17 years old. MORE

Tree Baltimore: Summer Gathering

This is a family-friendly, free and open-to-the-public event that includes live music and kids nature play space as well as networking opportunities for those interested in urban greening! MORE

Dav Pilkey “Dog Man Tour” Author Appearance

Best Selling Author Dav Pilkey will be in Carroll County to kick off the school year! The author of the highly successful Captain Underpants and Dog Man series is kicking off his national tour at a fun-filled event celebrating his latest book Dog Man: A Tale of Two Kitties and the 20th anniversary of Captain Underpants. Dav has written and illustrated numerous popular, award-winning books for children, including the hilarious Captain Underpants and Dog Man series; Dog Breath and many more. Captain Underpants is now a major animated film. Tickets are FREE but you must get them in advance. MORE

September Song Presents Disney’s Beauty and The Beast
8 PM | Carroll Arts Center | Westminster

Step into the enchanted world of Broadway’s modern classic, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, an international sensation that has played to over 35 million people worldwide in 13 countries. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, the stage version includes all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice. The original Broadway production ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical. MORE

FRIDAY

First Friday Tot Story and Sing Along

Join Play Cafe the first Friday of each month for story time and sing along with Aunt Whiz geared to toddlers aged 2-4. Older and younger children would also definitely enjoy!  This is a free drop‐in program, however normal Play Cafe $5 food and beverage minimum applies. MORE

Bookwork Story Time

Enjoy a nature story with the storyteller’s choice of an activity such as an animal encounter, puppets or a craft, in partnership with the Reisterstown Branch of the Baltimore County Public Library. Dress for a brief outdoor experience. Ages  Toddler to age 6. FREE. No registration required. MORE

Signing Out: Urban Evolution
2 PM | Urban Evolution | Baltimore

The last event at Urban Evolution Baltimore. Come in, grab some sidewalk chalk, and decorate the floor with some art, a message, or just sign your name to say “I was here.” Get your friend’s emails, FB, and phone numbers and keep in touch because even though the Parkour gym will be gone, the communities and wonderful people will still be around. Simple as that. Say good bye to the place by leaving something beautiful behind. No, cost for the event and there will be light snacks and drink. MORE
