Evolution Engine, the B&O’s summertime STEM series, highlights the technological evolution of locomotives and the environmental evolutionary changes which impacted the lives of dinosaurs. Kids and adults, alike, can roam the evolution maze, discovering facts and truths about the extinction of dinosaurs and shift from steam engines to diesel engines. Old School Child’s Play at Hampton Historic Site

Apollo 11 Model Rocket Contest

Celebrate the Apollo 11 moon landing at the Goddard Visitor Center during the annual Apollo Contest on Sunday, July 16, 2017, starting at 12:30 p.m. Attempt to land your model rocket on a “moon” target on the ground. Trophies and model rocket kit prizes will be awarded to the top youth and adult finishers. The contest promotes interest in space sciences among area students. The Tempest | Shakespeare Family Fun Days

Your Story Begins: A Writing Workshop for Kids

Your story is beginning. Where will it go? In this workshop, kids will explore that question with Elissa through a number of creative writing and drawing prompts inspired by the stories in the book. Participants will get feedback on their work from each other and Elissa, and they’ll share their creations with parents at the end of the workshop.
