Every kid in Roland Park knows Shananigans Toy Shop. It’s been a staple at Wyndhurst Station for decades. For the last 11 years, it’s been run by the Stelzer Family.

What made Flora and her husband switch to toys from their respective careers in real estate and photography? Their son, David. David had worked at Barston’s Child’s Play and was immersed in the toy industry. When the opportunity came up to purchase Shananigans, it was a no brainer for the family to change gears and work together on a new-to-them venture. Their collective business experience and industry knowledge was a winning combination. (If you’ve ever talked with David at the store, you know exactly what I mean! No one quite has a passion for toys — or games — like he does…).

Flora kindly showed us around and shared some of her favorite holiday gift giving ideas. Here are some of our favorite finds!

Hands down, our favorite find was the Girls Coloring For Change coloring book. It was created by Hope Sacco and Anna Doherty, two Roland Park Middle School eighth graders, as part of a national entrepreneurial competition for kids.
