It’s a short week… but there’s no shortage of fun things to do with the kiddos this week! Here are some of our favorite ideas for getting out and about with the littles.

Happy Labor Day! Enjoy the “unofficial” day of summer with the kiddos. Take a stream hike, visit a splash pad, have some fun at Port Discovery, grill in the back yard. (Did you see that amazing recipe for parmesan-garlic grilled corn on the cob??)
There’s nothing like a trip to the Zoo to make anyone feel like a kid again! And now, Everyone’s A Kid Day is a monthly event. The first Tuesday of every month, March – November, all Zoo tickets are the price of child admission. It’s a great deal. We aren’t kidding! MORE
It’s also Thrifty Tuesday at the B&O Railroad Museum. (Visitors receive half off regular admission rates the first Tuesday of every month)! All aboard for the most important American railroad collection in the world! MORE
Try a free open house family music class at Anna’s Musikgarten! New and returning families are invited to a free open house class during Labor Day week! Get a taste of the songs and dances participants learn this session. Open House classes run Tuesday and Thursday. The Family Music class is Tuesday night at 6 PM and the Baby Music class is Tuesday at 11 AM. (There is also a toddler class Thursdays at 10:15 am.!) MORE
Tots and Tales returns to the National Aquarium on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 AM in September and October. Visitors can bring their tots to the Aquarium to learn about the aquatic world through story time, songs, games and activities all designed to develop early learning skills like fine and gross motor skills and language skills. Learn about Aquarium animals through encounters and field trips to their Aquarium habitats. Each week is a brand new journey! Free for members. Free with regular admission for non-members. MORE
Head to The Charmery for their Ice Cream Gallery opening! The Charmery is thrilled to be partnering with their neighbors and friends at make Studio for an art show opening! On Wednesday, September 7th from 6pm to 10pm the walls of The Charmery will be covered with art from the amazing artists of make Studio and the dipping cabinet will have specialty flavors inspired by the artists’ work. See Alice in Wonderland! Adapted from Lewis Carroll’s story, this interactive program includes a tea party, giant playing cards and more! Participants are a part of this classic story presented by Catriona’s Castle. 5 PM – 5:45 PM at Baltimore County Public Library’s Lansdowne Branch. MORE

Learn all about migrating monarchs at the Patterson Park Audubon Center’s Tiny Tots Safari at 10:30 AM. An hour of fun and education for the youngest nature lovers! It’s a Harry Potter and the Shabbat of Fantastic Beasts Feast at Beth Shalom Congregation! (Yes, families will even be ‘sorted’ to their seats!) Apparate or fly your broom to the Great Hall of Beth Shalom for a Shabbat Feast on the 9th of September. Come at 5:45 pm so that you may be sorted to your seat. Dinner will be served promptly at 6:00 pm. Following dinner there will be a tot wizards service as well as separate programs for both wizards-in-training and more advanced wizards. If you can’t make the feast, you can join for free festivities. MORE
