With temps finally dipping below “I’m melting!” this weekend should prove to be perfect for outdoor music, movies, markets and pick-your-own yum. Indoor options are just as awesome too. We’ve got ideas for a DC day-trip, drop in art and even an adorable production of Disney’s Into The Woods.

Artistic Children’s Theatre presents Into The Woods @ St. James Academy  
August 5 – 7 | Times Vary

In Disney’s Into The Woods, Jr. a witch tasks a childless baker and his wife with procuring magical items from classic fairy tales to reverse the curse put on their family tree. Music and humor then ensue. The Artistic Children’s Theatre brings this fanciful tale to life on the stage at St. James Academy with the talents of tiny thespians. MORE

DigiTour @ Ramshead  
August 5 | 6:30 PM – 10:30 PM

DigiTour is the world’s first social media entertainment and music tour. The tour began as a showcase for social media stars from YouTube, but it’s roster of performers have now expanded to include Vine, Twitter, and Instagram stars as well as traditional pop music stars. MORE

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone @ The BSO

The Harry Potter™ film series is one of those once-in-a-lifetime cultural phenomena that continues to delight millions of fans around the world. This concert will feature the Baltimore Symphony performing every note from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone™. Audiences will be able to relive the magic of the film in high-definition on a giant screen while hearing the orchestra perform John Williams’ unforgettable score. Zootopia @ The Shops at Kenilworth

Head down to the Shops at Kenilworth for a “wild” time at the screening of Zootopia. Admission is FREE! Movie starts at dark – 8:45ish – come early for dinner, prizes, games, and lots of fun. MORE

Flash Flood Sale @ Shananigans Toy Shop

As most of you may, or may not know, there was a little bit of rain on Saturday night in Old Town Ellicott City. While Shananigans Toy Shop managed to repel the surging water pretty well, their storage areas did not fare so well. A lot of packaging was destroyed. However, most of the affected merchandise was plastic wrapped inside their boxes, so they are perfectly fine. And you know what that means it’s flash flood sale time! MORE

Summer Concert on The Square

Celebrate summer with the folks from Belvedere Square. The Square is bringing the fun to to Friday nights in Baltimore, featuring live music from the region’s top and newest bands and the restaurants and market merchants of Belvedere Square. Enjoy ice cream and Summer Shandy (lemonade and wheat beer) from Atwater’s, crawfish boil from Tooloulou, kombucha by the glass and fermented snacks from Hex and chocolate ice tea and Mexican Chocolate Paletas from Jinji. Casey Cares Orioles 5K

Lace up your running shoes for an incredible cause! The Casey Cares Foundation 7th Annual 5K Run/Walk takes place on Saturday, August 6th at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in partnership with OriolesREACH. Proceeds of the event benefit the Casey Cares Foundation, which provides uplifting and ongoing programs with a special touch to critically ill children and their families. MORE

Last Day for Berry Picking @ Hybridoma Organic Fruit Farm

How about a DC day trip? Join the Freer and Sackler Gallery to welcome Murad Khani. Witness how artists from Afghanistan are transforming their lives and their country during an afternoon of free family-friendly activities. SCIENCE FAIR The Water Ballet by Fluid Movement

Join Fluid Movement this at the Patterson Park Pool for their 15th annual synchronized swimming event, SCIENCE FAIR! The Water Ballet. The 2016 water ballet celebrates the joys and pains of the bane of many kid’s school year: the long term science project and the nerve-wrecking judging process that goes along with it. Baltimore Farmers Market and Bazaar

This is a (cool) family favorite farmers market, and we’ve got a bunch of those. Check out the tasty guide to local farmers markets that Heather put together. Then grab your shopping bags and stroll through Maryland’s largest producers-only market (producers-only meaning all vendors make what they sell), shoppers can revel at the sight of a vast quantity of foods, including crisp seasonal fruits and vegetables, poultry, seafood, beef, pork, lamb, bison, goat, rabbit, fresh baked goods, flavorful herbs and organically raised and produced milk, yogurt, butter, eggs and cheese products. Additionally, dozens of food vendors add spice to the market with multicultural cuisine such as popular pit beef sandwiches, omelets and breakfast burritos, crepes, wood fired pizzas, pies and quiches, soups, noodles and dumplings.
