5 things to do with kids in Baltimore this week: august 1-5, 2016
Monday: Explore Butterflies at Ladew. With something for big kids, littles, and families, Ladew Topiary Gardens is a perfect summer destination! Drop by to wander through the 15 thematic ‘garden rooms.’ Our favorite spot? The Butterfly Garden! A quaint on-site cafe operates 7 days a well from 11 AM – 3 PM in the former stables.
Tuesday: Free Ice Cream Sandwiches! Did you know Tuesday is National Ice Cream Sandwich Day? Canton Ace Hardware is putting their YETI coolers to the test to see if they can keep ice cream frozen all day long! The ice cream goes in the cooler at 8am on Tuesday morning- so stop by between 5-7pm (and only between 5 PM – 7 PM) to enjoy a free ice cream sandwich! It’s also National Night Out and there are tons of FREE community events happening all over the Baltimore area.
Wednesday: Ride horses at the Farmers Market. Head to Druid Hill Farmer’s Market on Wednesday afternoon for horseback rides, free yoga, and live music. Live in the county? Think about trying out Lego Night at the Hereford Library (reservation required).
Thursday: Create at Yankee Doodle. Create during open studio time at Yankee Doodle Art Studio! Candle making, soap making, decorate a tote bag, make your own comic book. The creative possibilities are endless! (And it’s a great way to beat the afternoon heat).
Friday: See Harry Potter with the BSO. Potter Fanatics: this is a don’t-miss! Audiences will be able to relive the magic of the film in high-definition on a giant screen while hearing the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra perform John Williams’ unforgettable score. Potter with the BSO is one of our favorite events happening this summer! Performances August 4-6th.
