Be a Wildlife Scientist at the Zoo!
For the first time, Maryland is holding a statewide festival celebrating these important areas of study. We think the Zoo is a purr-fect place to dip your paws into STEM through learning about wildlife science. After all, being a wildlife scientist requires all aspects of STEM! The Zoo is hosting two days of events as part of this festival. Activities will take place all over Zoo grounds and give visitors the opportunity to interact with Zoo Educators and try their hand at some of the methods that wildlife scientists use on the job. Here We Grow Opens at Port Discovery
The cows are moooving into Baltimore! Port Discovery Children’s Museum presents its newest exhibit, Here We Grow!, opening November 7, 2015! Here We Grow! will introduce children and their caregivers to farm processes, products and people through the themes of science and technology, history, local ecology, global economics and art. Using words, ideas, sounds and interactive elements, visitors will learn about the importance of agriculture in their everyday lives as well as concepts of agricultural conservation and sustainability. BSO Music Box: Alphabet Soup
A, B, C, D, E, F, G….learn and sing and play — yippee! Join us for a fun exploration of the building blocks of reading and writing through music of a BSO piano trio. Hosted by Khaleshia Thorpe-Price. 30 minutes prior to each concert the lobby fills with a range of musical, creative and fun activities for babies and families. Mousetrap Racer Challenge
Ready? Set. Go! Discover the power of kinetic energy as you design, build, and test a racer using the power of a mousetrap. We provide the free kit containing a mousetrap, rubber mouse, and other assorted materials, instructions, tips, and race day—you take care of the rest. See if your racer will go the distance down our track and get your mouse to the cheese. Pre-registered teams of up to four people will pick up their kits when they arrive. 11 AM – 1 PM. MORE
