It’s the Monday after Halloween weekend. You and the kids have survived crashing from the sugar high, sorted, catalogued, traded, probably cried or weathered a tantrum. And now? That’s the dilemma.

Maybe it’s in a bowl. Maybe it’s still in bags. But it’s watching you. Staring. Taunting.  And it’s time to do something about it…

What do you DO with all of that candy? Better yet, how do you involve your kids in the process (one that doesn’t involve consuming it all….)? Or involving yet another elf-on-the-shelf-like character to micromanage. {I just said no to the switch witch… it’s ok. You can, too. Because there is an even better option!}

Participate in the area’s first Sweet Treat Share!  Local kids’ boutique Wee Chic has partnered with the Baltimore Hunger project to make this weekend’s meal delivery a little sweeter, thanks to the generosity of their pint-sized customers.

“Halloween is such a fun and indulgent holiday where children often collect much more candy than they can possibly consume,” said Bridget Quinn Stickline, owner of Wee Chic Boutique. “We created the Sweet Treat Share as a teachable opportunity where kids can give back to those for whom candy is a luxury and joy can be in short supply. All candy donations will surprise kids fed through the Baltimore Hunger Project.”

The Baltimore Hunger Project assembles and delivers kid friendly weekend food packages to elementary school children in Baltimore City and County who would normally come to school hungry on Monday mornings.  One in five children in Maryland is at risk of hunger and in Baltimore City alone, over 82% of students receive daily free and reduced price meals; that equates to nearly 72,000 children that may go hungry between school days without the efforts of organizations like Baltimore Hunger Project.

The best part? Kids who give get a little something, too!  Customers who bring in 25 or more pieces of wrapped Halloween candy to benefit the Baltimore Hunger Project will receive a 20% discount off their entire clothing purchase at Wee Chic on that day.

Donate your unwrapped candy today through Saturday (November 7th) at Wee Chic at Green Spring Station in Lutherville to participate! MORE INFO
