Summer. It may be less stress than the hectic hustle and bustle of the school year — but the last thing I sometimes want to do is head into the kitchen to figure out what’s for dinner after a day of camp and pool-going. I’d much rather spend an extra half hour at the pool.

Which is why I love how convenient Let’s Dish! is. Simply preorder your family’s favorite dishes (assemble them at the store or have them assemble them for you) and make the 5 o’clock scramble a distant memory. It’s definitely not your grandma’s freezer meal, as we got to show Teresa Pearl and her family last week!

Teresa was the lucky random winner of our first Kitchen Takeover with Let’s Dish! On her entry form, she mentioned that she needed a Kitchen Takeover because she has “2 kids, 1 dog, a husband, and a full time job and our dinners are often last minute and boring (or takeout) . Help!”

I had a chance to spend the evening with Teresa and her family in their beautiful Towson home dishing over stuffed prosciutto-wrapped chicken with parmesan green beans. {And a side of jazz hands. Apparently, I cook with gusto.}

Avery, the resident 4-year-old and green bean aficionado, told us that she had never met a green bean she didn’t like. While she may have ruffled her nose a bit at the thought of cheese on the beans, her reaction to the taste test was priceless:

“These are DELICIOUS.”

Did I mention that Let’s Dish! makes it easy for the kids to join in on the cooking action? Avery was a pro at helping me with the green bean pan-spreading. Miss A is a pre-reader, but older kids can definitely help read the recipes, conveniently located on the front of the Let’s Dish! package. Yes, making dinner can be an “ed”venture.

The entire {fresh!} meal went from package to table in under 30 minutes. Literally. No the-recipe-says-its-a-thirty-minute-meal-but-it-really-takes-you-an-hour. Green beans cooked in the oven while pasta water boiled and the chicken sautéed. Easy peasy. And tasty.

No prep meant Teresa got to spend more quality time with the fam — laughing, of course!

Avery wasn’t a huge fan of chicken wrapped in ‘bacon.’ But she was a fan of the deconstructed version: chopped up bacon next to chopped up chicken. I’ll call that a dinner win. The adults cleaned their plates.

Actions speak louder than words, right?

Many thanks to Teresa and her crew for inviting us into her home to dish — and to Let’s Dish! for providing the meal! Want to win a Kitchen Takeover for your family? We’ll be giving another one away in August — just in time for Back to School! Keep an eye on the website and your email.  {Which reminds me, are you on our email list?}

PS: Did you check out the bakeware? I’m in love with the Falconware bake set from Becket Hitch. Durable. Looks pretty on the table — and cleans like a dream.
