As many of you are aware, (cool) progeny has a non-profit arm, Little Lion Challenge. This pay-it-forward initiative was created in honor of our Little Lion Man, as a way for Patrick and I to give back to a community that has so wonderfully supported us throughout our little guy’s adventures.  Throughout the year, we post ways to give back on (cool) progeny and are gearing up for our second Little Lion Challenge Day on February 11, 2015.

Last Little Lion Challenge Day, we surprised 75 NICU families at GBMC and Johns Hopkins Children’s Center with comfort bags, treated the medical and nursing teams at each of those NICUs; outfitted each NICU with new infant swings; surprised The Milton Dance Head and Neck Surgery Center with new toys for their pediatric treatment rooms; provided new pajamas to Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital; stocked the supply room at a local preschool that services homeless children, and MORE!

We have an opportunity through Johnsonville Sausage and PearUp to raise up to $1000 for Little Lion Challenge — and we need your help.  All you have to do is go to our PearUp page and pledge your support (no monetary donation necessary!). You can help us earn additional dollars by sharing the Pear on your social media networks and answering a few questions, if you’re so inclined.

What do we plan on doing with the money raised through this campaign? PLENTY! Our next Little Lion Challenge Day is February 11, 2015! We’ll be using the funds raised over the next few months to fulfill the needs of area organizations that support families of young children with special needs (NICUs, children’s hospitals, preschools, etc.). Additionally, we hope to arrange social gatherings for families of children with complex medical issues.

So what is this PearUp thing? PearUp is a site that social network actions to help teams raise funds — and matches organizations with sponsors. You can create your own Pear for your own group or event! Right now, Johnsonville is sponsoring organizations in the Baltimore area looking for custom t-shirts or cash donations. It’s a fun way to raise awareness and funds for your cause!

You can also support The Little Lion Challenge by attending our fundraising event on October 26th!

Editor’s Note: This post is sponsored by Johnsonville and PearUp, as a means of helping them raise awareness of the PearUp fundraising platform and Johnsonville’s participation in PearUp. (cool) progeny will be compensated for the post, which will be donated directly to Little Lion Challenge. The Little Lion Challenge is a fund of The Community Foundation of Carroll County, a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization.
