While many of us never thought it would happen, spring has finally decided to grace Baltimore with her presence. The unending April rain has subsided and we are left with the longer, happier days of May. With dreams of summer vacation and dining al fresco, our slide into summer also brings new energy to get out and play!
Luckily, in addition to curing everyone’s seasonal depression disorder, May is also National Health and Fitness Month! In conjunction with Get Active America, National Health and Fitness Month is a unified effort by health and wellness clubs nationwide to help individuals and communities improve their health.
What could be more fun to celebrate fitness than throwing a fam-friendly shindig? The Maryland Athletic Club will host host the Friday Family Fitness Night at MAC Timonium on Friday, May 30th from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. This FREE event has great activities for every member of your family. And (cool) progeny will be there with special activities!
MAC will be offering a range of classes throughout the evening, giving moms and dads the chance to show off their muscles during a Bootcamp session with Muurad Pope, or bust a move during a free Zumba class with Kathy Graham. There are different sports sessions for the budding athletes and pre-teens in your squad and best of all, the pool will be open from 6:00-8:00 PM for anyone itchin’ to FINALLY bust out their bathing suit.
While families are taking a break from breaking a sweat, there will be face painting and a “Make Your Own Trail Mix” station for kids. Kooper’s Tavern is providing food and drinks for the evening, including adult beverages to add to your post work out glow. The night will end with a movie screening of Disney’s “Frozen” at 8:00 PM, which is personally, the only thing we want to remember about last winter.
