Join The Walters Art Museum in honoring important African American women who have made our world a beautiful place through song, story, and art! Cherry Pie Hike
Head to Robert E. Lee Park for a brisk morning hike to awaken the senses and commemorate George Washington’s birthday. Peter and the Wolf Young People’s Concert
The orchestra is joined by the marvelous performers of Kinetics Dance Theatre for Prokofiev’s immortal Peter and the Wolf along with other kid-friendly versions of famous classics. Children of all ages will enjoy this fun-filled introduction to the orchestra with our entertaining conductor and narrator Greg Jukes. Choose either the 10:30 or 1:00 concert and try your hand at playing instruments in between the two performances at our free Musical Instrument Petting Zoo, sponsored by Music & Arts. Bay Day
All ages. Come out and enjoy this celebration of Chesapeake Bay food, restoration efforts and fun. This year, we are focusing on the oyster whose harvesting season in the Bay is from November 2013 until the end of February 2014. Hear real-life stories of a Chesapeake waterman. NEW Exhibit at Port Discovery: The Art of Sesame Street
Generations of children know and love Cookie Monster, Elmo, Big Bird, Grover, Oscar, Zoe, and Ernie and Bert. For over 40 years, these and other Sesame Street television characters have also come to life in books, in the stories you were read to as a child or are sharing with your family today. The art exhibit, The Art of Sesame Street: From Pictures to Pages, explores the history of the popular children’s educational television show through paintings and prints, and will be on display at Port Discovery Children’s Museum beginning THIS WEEKEND!
