One of the hottest projected food trends in 2014 is the ultimate kid-friendly snack: popcorn! But the favorite air-popped treat is getting a bit of a makeover. Top chefs are skipping the butter and opting for creative flavor twists. Think Mediterranean flavor with olive oil, cracked pepper and parsley.

One of our favorite artisan popcorn brands is Tiny But Mighty. The ancient heirloom popcorn variety has smaller kernels (perfect for little hands) and is virtually hull-less, making it easy to chew. Non-GMO, too!

The best part about this trend? There are absolutely no rules. Get in the kitchen and experiment with the kiddos. Makes a great after-school or snow day activity!

And for your Valentine’s Day extravaganza, try this combination. A huge hit in our house! If you want to take it to the school’s valentine exchange, skip the nuts and try sunflower seeds or pretzels.
