If there is a quintessential girly girl in children’s literature, it’s Eloise. The precocious, spunky six-year-old that lives at The Plaza Hotel and has an affinity for high style, room service, mischief, and wedding crashing. A big personality in a tiny person.

{{Sound familiar? Do you have one of those in your house, too?}}

“My name is Eloise. I am six-years-old. I am a city child. I live at the Plaza.”

No need to travel to the Big Apple to experience the luxe lifestyle of the six-year-old-glam-and-fabulous. Charm City’s own Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore offers the ultimate girls’ staycation experience for you and your pint-sized cutie.

According to the Bug, it’s WAY better than she imagines the Plaza could ever be… No nanny.

Recently, my favorite four-year-old and I escaped with friends for a {little} girls’ weekend at the Four Seasons. It was a whirlwind twenty-four hours, but the staff made our girls feel like princesses. Modern day Eloises. A perfect amount of spoiling and pampering to make it a memorable weekend for everyone.

Attention to detail is what sets the Four Seasons Hotels apart from the rest. Modern lines. Fresh fabrics. Outstanding service. True, any night away from home is a treat. But a stay at the Four Seasons is like a double fudge ice cream sundae with TWO cherries. If you thought the Four Seasons was only for grown-ups, you and your daughter might be missing out on the ultimate girls’ weekend in-town.

“It’s good. It needs to be bigger.”

Here’s a glimpse at how Baltimore’s premier waterfront hotel rolled out the red carpet treatment for the Bug (and her mom).

A Sweet Greeting. A note from the staff, the Bug’s favorite candy, and cupcakes greeted us upon arrival in the suite. As the Bug exclaimed: delicious! “I always say what’s in my head. It makes everything easier.”

Pink-a-licious Sleep Space. What could be more elegant to a four-year-old than a perfectly pink tent with fluffy pillows? There are secret pockets inside perfect for stashing candy. Parents beware.

Mocktail Mixing and Signature Drink Creation.  After we relaxed for a bit, we met-up with Wit & Wisdom head bartender Aaron Joseph for mocktail (ahem, cocktails for those of us over 21) sampling. The girls got to sample different juices and mix in their favorite fruits and mints. They then had a mini-consultation with Aaron who whipped up a signature drink for them to enjoy with dinner. It goes beyond ‘having a cocktail.’ It’s an experience.

Playground Excursion. The Four Seasons is super close to one of our favorite city green spaces: Pierce’s Park. We burned off a little energy at the playground before returning to the hotel and changing for dinner. Perfect strolling distance. No tired preschool legs that require carrying.

Mini-Foodie Fun. The hotel has three dining establishments on site: LAMILL Cafe, PABU (Japanese Pub), and Wit & Wisdom (Modern American fare). Dinner at Wit & Wisdom was delicious AND entertaining. We were seated right next to the open kitchen where the girls could watch food being prepared. Perfect cacophony of food prep, grill sizzle, and order calling that kept the attention of the girls and masked any squeals that creeped above ‘restaurant volume.’

Highlight of the night? The Bug got to meet Chef Zach Mills and sample the most decadent of preschool fare: lobster corn dogs. Truth be told, the moms enjoyed them as much as our Lobster Pot Pie {assembled table side} and duck fat-poached Atlantic Monkfish with roasted acorn squash. Both girls were over-satiated from dinner and no room for dessert. “My needs are few. Food (filet mignon).  Clothing (Dior).”

In-Room Popcorn and Movie with Mini Robes and Slippers. What’s a relaxing girls’ weekend without plush hotel robes and slippers? The Four Seasons has them in mini-sizes, perfect for wrapping up and movie watching. Select a movie from their DVD library and they’ll send up a giant bowl of popcorn, too. “Getting bored is NOT allowed.”

Decadent Hot Chocolate. Our post-trip activities may or may not have included a sugar detox, but how could you turn down the ah-mazing artisan hot chocolate from LAMILL Cafe? Perfectly warm. Not too hot. Not too cold. Made from Valrhona chocolate. Yum. {I opted for the hand crafted soy latte. Equally delicious.} We followed it with a sweet and savory pastry and breakfast sandwich spread. The Bug highly recommends the almond brioche.

Mini Mani/Pedi. Every girls’ weekend — staycation or out-of-town — should include a little pampering. I knew my twirly-whirly girl would love the spa, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned about her disturbing other patrons. Especially after a hot chocolate. My worry was for naught. Even the most giggly of girls will lower the volume to a whisper and get their zen on at the Four Seasons Hotel Spa. Just something about the atmosphere or the excitement of getting to be ‘grown up’ for a hot minute.

According to the Bug, having her nails done was the ‘BESTEST’ part of her weekend. Her polish selection? Suzi Says Feng Shui. Because every four-year-old knows the art of balancing energies. She enjoyed the spa so much — and was so engrossed in the whole spa process — that even I got to recharge my batteries and balance some energy with a mani.

When you think luxury hotel you don’t necessarily associate the under four-foot crowd. Luckily, our Bug is a girl who knows how to improvise. Empty trash can? Step stool problem solved. {Editor’s note: I’ve since learned from the hotel that they are incorporating stools into the rooms when children visit. That’s one of the things that I love about the Four Seasons experience and staff. They are always looking for ways to make it even better.}

If you’re looking for a mini-escape with your best pint-sized gal pal, consider splurging on a stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore. Eloise-style. Just be sure to ask for the full Bug treatment when you call and work with the staff to customize your experience so it’s perfect for you and your mini-me. Amenities are often added seasonally and some will require an extra fee (for example, a custom mixology experience or mani-pedi).

“Oh, my Lord!”  You will love it.

Editor’s Note: Our experience at the Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore was provided compliments of the Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore. All opinions expressed are expressly my own — or those of the Bug. We really had a delightful weekend {no meltdowns!}.  The first thing my husband asked when we got home: when can we have a grown-up staycation at the Four Seasons? Hmmm… holidays are coming.  Many thanks to the entire Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore staff for their unparalleled hospitality!
