What do VW Camper Tents, Kinderhook Snacks, and Poppy Earrings have in common? They’re all picks in our 2013 Holiday Guide!

When the Bug was born, my mom gave me one piece of advice that has stuck with me: your most important job is to make this child’s childhood magical.

The holiday season is all about making magic. That spark that cues your internal movie soundtrack because things fall into place perfectly, or not so perfectly. It’s about laughter. It’s about hope. It’s about reaching out to others. It’s about the gleam in your child’s eye as they open something they’ve been wishing for. It’s airplane rides in the kitchen. Cocoa and cookies. Family get togethers with everyone squashed around the dining room table. {Sure! We can seat another!}

Holiday magic making doesn’t require a degree in cooking or crafting. We’re giving you the tips! Angela whipped up some amazing side dishes that the whole family will love. Melissa styled the most adorable kid-friendly table you’ve ever seen. Jen is in the kitchen cooking up some holiday style. The Bug and I swung by Local Color Flowers for kid- friendly swag-making. We also spent an afternoon with the ah-mazing ladies at Haute Blow Dry Bar, who are dishing holiday hair tips.

Those trinkets and toys and things that make noise? We’ve culled our favorite Baltimore- area stores and local online retailers and have pulled together150 fabulous finds. We talked with shop owners and asked them about what they’re excited about this holiday season. The result?

Well. We think Santa will approve.

May your days be merry and bright this season. Cheers!
