Maryland State Fair Ticket Giveaway

One of our favorite events of the year starts on Friday — The Maryland State Fair! Animals, rides, exhibits, fun food — there’s a reason they call it the 11 best days of summer. The Fair runs August 23rd through September 2nd at the Timonium Fairgrounds.

Some pint-sizer friendly not-to-miss events happening at the Fair:

  • Toyota Ravens Sand Sculpture Contest
    Friday, August 23, 2013
    Free with paid admission to the Maryland State Fair. Located in Exhibition Hall.Holders of 12 World Sand Sculpting Championship titles, Sandscapes will sculpt a 100-ton sand sculpture in the State Fair Exhibition Hall.
  • U-Learn Farm
    Times vary, check website
    Free with paid admission to the Maryland State Fair. Located in the Cow Palace at the Birthing Center. Count on the U-Learn Farm to teach fairgoers of all ages how agriculture impacts their daily lives. U-Learn Farm features a variety of fun and educational hands-on activities and exhibits.
  • Watch the Chicks Hatch
    Open daily
    Free with paid admission to the Maryland State Fair. Located in the Cow Palace. The Birthing Center will provide opportunities for fairgoers to witness the miracle of birth of calves, litters of piglets and hatching chicks. In addition, live video cameras coupled with big screen televisions will be added to ensure that everyone has a good view. University of Maryland agriculture students along with the Maryland State Fair Veterinarian will be with the animals at all times to oversee, assist with the deliveries and narrate the birth events that occur during fair hours. Video presentations will also be available when live births are not taking place.
  • Sinbad’s High Dive Show
    Times vary, check website
    Free with paid admission to the Maryland State Fair. Located in the Special Attraction Area. Sinbad & his Gold Seekers dive from their Pirate Ship’s 3, 5 and 10 meter platforms in their quest for the Golden Pineapple. The show culminates with a spectacular dive from the Pirate Ship’s 80ft. platform!
  • Milk the Cows
    Times vary, check website
    Maryland Guernsey Youth Association will teach fairgoers how to hand milk cows during the Guernsey Milk Clinic fundraiser. The Guernsey Milk Clinic will provide educational information about Maryland’s dairy industry and this special breed of dairy cows. For a small donation, interested fairgoers can take lessons and try their hand at milking a cow. All participants will learn a new skill and will receive a special treat
  • Batmobile Replicar
    Open daily
    Everyday Free with paid admission to the Maryland State Fair. Located near the State Fair Park closest to the Poultry Barn. Fairgoers will be able to channel their inner superhero when they look at or have their photo taken with the 1966 Batmobile replicar!

Other fun attractions happening at the fair: make your own Maryland Stick Horse, Slime Lab, Power Pedal Kid’s Tractor Pull, Rebounder’s Gymnastics fun, vegetable and fruit carving… not to mention the rides and food!
